Keith, I realised your comments weren't a criticism of Sexton's images. My comment about maximum sharpness was because there are instances where it might be beneficial to have a background slightly out of focus. One of the major problems with LF work is ensuring good sharpness throughout an image, a...

Keith, assuming you mean "Geologic Conundrum, Banff" or "Bell Tower, Late Afternoon" then there is quite a depth to these images and stopping down to only f11 or f16 would not give sufficient depth of field. With "The Arena, Slickhorn Gulch, Utah" some back tilt was used to help bring the fore-groun...

Re: Film from Europe
Sorry to be a bore BUT I let the holiday season pass and tried Photoimpex again. The answer is NO. They claim that contractual obligations with Nigel at Retrophotographic will not allow them to export goods to England. As for Nigel, I think that he must have died and nobody can locate the body, cer...

The only problem us girls have with the BTZS one is that the velcro can attach itself quite firmly to long hair upon exiting from the cloth  That's a very sexist statement  what about us male ageing hippies  In 30 years of using LF I've never bought a darkcloth, I much prefer to...

Be very wary buying from MrCad, their ideas of good and excellent condition aren't the same as other suppliers, like Robert White, Teamwork, and the others mentioned who are all highly reputable.

Have to agree with Joanne and add another UK name for second hand lenses, Peter Walnes. All the companies mentioned are excellent and can be highly recommended, they will all offer a guarantee with a S/H lens. There are plenty of LF lenses available but turnover is usually fast. If you want to buy n...

WTB a Linhof
After one or two years using a Crown Graphic I feel its time to move up to a Linhof
So if anyone is selling one please let me know.
Oh yes I forgot to say it will take my Wista lensboards and make life much easier having 2 cameras taking the same lenses/boards.

Sometimes the lens sits on the pin Barry mentions, it should locate in a small cutaway/nick in the board. If this has happened a light jolt may shift the lens which is then not tightened to the board. Check it if there is a pin and no locator for it a small V notch with a file is all that's needed. ...

As I live in Plymouth, then Cornwall would be a very convenient choice for myself. I am hoping that this `Spring workshop` will be held during April. 8) Maybe we can have a mini get together when I'm passing through if theres not a full workshop, there's a one or two others on the Devon/Cornwall bo...

"Surely I would do better focusing on the main point of interest such and the large mass of rock which is the main subject? " Keith, I'm not sure why George suggested you focus at infinity. Like you were thinking I'd focus on the rock using a bit of tilt to bring the foreground into focus, this woul...
