Re: Maxwell Screen

Dav Thomas fitted a Maxwell screen to his Chamonix, and wrote a blog about how to do it. I think it did involve a bit of work, but this is the link.

Re: ND filters for long exposures

If you have a Lee hard grad you can always use that as a ND filter by pulling it right down over the lens. I have done this before and it has worked fine, but it wouldn't work with soft grads. So you could look for a hard grad that would also double up as an ND filter.

Re: WTB: BetterScanning holder

Hi Tony,

It's mainly for 5x4 on an Epson 750 scanner, but I've just started to shoot some 6x6 MF as well.....

Many thanks,

WTB: BetterScanning holder

Hi All,
I'm looking for a BetterScanning holder for my scanner. Does anyone happen to have one that they would be willing to part with?
Many thanks,

Re: Schneider Super Symmar 80/4.5 XL

I think your decision depends on how you see, and other factors such as how it fits in with your other lenses, and how important weight and other factors are to you. I had an 80XL and it was a lovely lens, but I found I didn't use it very much as it was a bit too wide for the way I 'saw' an image. I...

Processing lab for B&W film

I don't shoot much B&W film but have a couple of sheets of Acros that I need to develop. Given that I have only two sheets, it seems sensible to send them off to a lab to have them developed. Does anyone have an recommendations for a lab for B&W developing please?

Many thanks.

Re: Storing open packets of film/Quickload

Thank you to Sean, Paul and Tim for your helpful comments. It sounds as though there is nothing to fear from storing the film in the fridge both before and after it's been exposed, although I may have to make a little room! We have to store additional items like carrots in the fridge in the summer o...

Re: Just joined from Norfolk

Hi Tom, Welcome to the forum. I remember you using your ebony in the frost at Manesty the first time I met you before I was LF user. I had a sensor covered in muck with nothing to clean it with! Now I have different problems! Hope your ebony continues to give you as much pleasure as I get from my eb...

Storing open packets of film/Quickload

Can I ask advice on how best to store open packets of film? I tend to use one main film type but carry the odd sheet of other films for use when appropriate. In the days of quickload this was easy, and I carried a few sheets of varied film types along with my main film. Now I use DDS for my main fil...

Re: Some thoughts on the design of a lightweight 4x5

Why don't you look at buying a used Chamonix? Very capable, around 1kg in weight, folds, and you should be able to pick one up within your budget.

Just a thought.

Re: spot meters

I also find a Pentax digital spotmeter very simple and easy to use. I had a minolta spotmeter F which was fine, but more complicated. I liked the Pentax so much when I bought it that I snapped up a secondhand one as a spare!

Re: Panasonic LX3 or LX5?

Thanks everyone. Useful information and useful links. It's between the Canon S95 and the Panasonic LX5 then...... they both look pretty impressive. I'll probably go for the LX5 given that I use my 90mm LF lens a lot and the LX5 gives me a wider angle.

Happy Christmas,
