Re: Panasonic LX3 or LX5?

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I do have a G1 which I chose rather than the GF1 as I found it easier to hold the camera steady with the the little hand grip. But this does make the camera a bit bigger (my pockets are not that big) and I tend to use it when I am out and about with the family wi...

Panasonic LX3 or LX5?

I am not sure if I should be posting this here, but I am looking at a Panasonic LX5 as a replacement for my little Ricoh which I use to assess shots before setting up the 5x4, and therefore uses as an accessory for my LF work. I have been very impressed by the quality of images I have seen from the ...

Re: E6 developing - lines on film

Sorry, I wasn't very clear, was I! The line is on the same place on each sheet, about 1/4 of the way in parallel to the longer side of the film. To one side the sky is slightly darker (the majority), and to the other side slightly lighter, right the way to the edge, as it if has had a slightly diffe...

E6 developing - lines on film

I have just developed my fist batch of film in Italy and there is a faint line running straight down the film about 1/3 of the way in on about half of the sheets. It is only really evident on the sky. My guess is that I may have been a bit slow getting the drum on for the first developer, but does a...

Re: kodak readyload holder

I have used one of these without any problems. But you should be able to pick up a quickload holder for a lot less than £70. Henry currently has one listed in the classified section which included a Gnas gear holder....

Re: Colour processing and water quality

Many thanks to everyone for their helpful comments. I think I will try and source some distilled water, and if that is not possible I will try with bottled water and boiled, filtered water and see if there is any difference in results. I'll let you know how I get on!

Re: Colour processing and water quality

Many thanks for both of you. I should have mentioned that we use a counter top water filter for both our drinking water and for filling the kettle, and we still have a serious problem with deposits on the kettle. I think I will try and check the pH of the filtered water and bottled water and see if ...

Colour processing and water quality

I would appreciate some advice on water quality for E6 processing. We moved to Tuscany a few weeks ago, and the water is so hard here that we had limestone (yes, stone) forming on the bottom of our kettle within 10 days. We use well water and we get through around 40-50KG of salt to soften the water...

Re: sending 4 x 5 film to process?

I suggest you call the lab you are thinking of using and check what instructions they need. It is usually pretty straightforward. Make sure you use a film box with three parts or you may get a light leak.

FREE: Ilford photographic paper

Opened but pretty full box of 5x7" Ilford multigrade IV RC deluxe Pearl paper. Originally 100 sheets, and I don't know how many I have used, but I don't think it is that many. Stored at room temperature and about 7 years old.

Free to anyone who can use it. Postage would be appreciated.
