Re: Epson V750 vs Imacon 949

On the castle/pier shots above, the middle one looks noticeably sharper to me. But I've lost track of which is which.

Re: Epson V750 vs Imacon 949

I tried some colour neg stuff and gave up very quickly. Apart from the negatives looking absolutely horrid in their own right, it seemed you could very easily get every colour 'look' under the sun - except one that you could be happy with. I imagine if you can work out how to control the process it ...

Re: Epson V750 vs Imacon 949

Yeah, but I just chuck mine in an unprofiled 4990 and see what comes out.

And the film's out of date E100VS ...

Re: Epson V750 vs Imacon 949

But if velvia's got such a horrid colour cast, why bother trying to 'accurately' colour profile at all?

Just go with the unrealistic colours you like, and call it 'art'.

Re: Epson V750 vs Imacon 949

Well, all I can say then, is that it would be interesting to know how the Howtek 7500 was profiled - 'cos that's the one that looks right. And I know what colour a garlic flower is.

Re: Epson V750 vs Imacon 949

It's going to take me hours to download those to view them, but from the sections of the brh corner posted last night there seems to be more difference in colour than in anything else - with the howtek 7500 looking the most real.

I always rotate in the same direction. If you are doing it manually, then maybe change halfway through just to alleviate the boredom.

Re: Jolly Japes with 8x10

I use 100-150ml of chemicals, rotate the orbital continuously (about 3s per rev) and have never had a problem with uneven processing (on 1-4 sheets of 4x5).

I've scored the bottom of the tray, but other than that it's standard.

I have a 90mm f6.8 Angulon you could borrow - but I'm 20 mins from M4/J17 rather than in London, so I don't know when and what your route there is ...

Re: 400 speed colour

I bought some Portra 400NC a couple of months ago. But I screwed up all 10 sheets due to a camera error and decided that colour negs look horrible and are a pita to scan and get colour balanced anyway.

But if you want colour and need the speed ...
