Re: Paterson Orbital Processor

I just scored the base of mine with a scalpel - and then sanded the rough edges off it. When I researched it, it seemed to be that or the dots ... and I didn't go for the dots because you'd need more volume to cover the film, and people using more volume seemed to have other problems as a result. Th...

Re: What went wrong here???

... I used it manually. That's what I do but, did you use the manual rotation base? If not, you need to continuously roll the dish in a circular motion to ensure that the corners, which are higher than the middle, get covered with chemistry. Yes, it does look like the chemistry has mostly just circ...

Re: What went wrong here???

If there's a structural light leak in the orbital then surely you'd get the leak on both shots? Could be you didn't clip the lid quite shut on one though - I've done that. I reckon you should try it with 100ml. Continuous rotation around 3-4sec per rotation. I've been using DD-X @ 1:4 for 8 1/2 mins...

Re: So, how would you focus this?

The diagram's fine, and the picture looks sharp .... but I can't believe you missed the sunset/sunrise there. I think you're just making it easy on yourself - focusing in nice, bright, light! Thanks everyone for the discussion. I sort of know this stuff, but it helps to hammer it home. If the light ...

Re: What went wrong here???

The top-right on the top one has to be a light leak because it's outside the masked area.

Re: Paterson Orbital Processor

Someone on the US LFF is processing 10x8 paper and has run into that problem. He's got round it by pre-soaking the paper which seems to stop it floating so much. But then he's raised the paper using epoxy dots on the base which may make things worse ... although he's only using 100-150ml which may m...

Re: So, how would you focus this?

Hmm. What Tim's diagram says to me, is that I have no chance of focusing this scene @f22! If my near focus point is <1m and close to the ground, and I also need to cover about 4m high 4m away, but still have ground level at infinity covered - I need more, rather than less, tilt. If I used 1deg (blue...

Re: So, how would you focus this?

I doubt the front and rear standards are aligned to 0.1 degree (or better) ... so it all seems a bit academic. I don't want to end up looking like Tiger Woods at the Open, with books and charts to consult and a caddy to advise and carry all the stuff, so I guess it's just a matter of picking two poi...

Re: So, how would you focus this?

Thanks. I actually used something close to Joanna's red mark approach ... but maybe the green would have been better. I don't think no front tilt would have worked that well because the closest flowers were only about 30cm from the lens ... and I don't have an iPhone. I'm reasonably happy with the f...

Re: Paterson Orbital Processor

Personally I'd try it with 100-150ml of chemicals before you go hacking the vanes off. It works for me and you might find you don't need to make any drastic mods (other than scoring the base) at all.

Re: Processed my first E6

Read the f**king manual Tim!!!

(Then I wouldn't have to!)

It was a gash film anyway because I messed up loading my Rolleiflex - so a good one to make a mistake on.

Re: Processed my first E6

OK thanks. When it's all new to you, you don't understand or recognise all the subtle differences between different tanks, lids, reels, processors etc, etc. There's a lot of combinations and versions, and not much documentation of the differences - which is why it's so great to have info and experie...
