Re: In-camera positives using Ambrotypes and Tintypes
Excellent Neil.
I don't suppose they had any 8x10 plate holders for sale where you sourced your more sensibly proportioned examples did they?

All sorted! Have just bought an immaculate looking Harrison tent from Phil.
Very smooth transaction and obviously well looked after. Thanks Phil.

Re: In-camera positives using Ambrotypes and Tintypes
Sorry for the radio silence. Gosh John - thanks for such a mountain of info, and the generous offer of setting up a free demo session. As Manchester is a significant journey for me I think I will keep my powder dry and wait for a place on one of your longer, paid workshops. I feel that I will be hea...

Re: In-camera positives using Ambrotypes and Tintypes
Thanks Dave. I have now posted an enquiry at http://www.johnbrewerphotography.com Are there advantages of using them as a wet, rather than dry plate process? I like the idea of dry plate ambrotypes to avoid the need for a mobile darkroom. However, I'm thinking that there might be more disadvantages ...

In-camera positives using Ambrotypes and Tintypes
I've quoted Lucy Telford's post below from the New Members forum because the discussion will have much broader interest. Have got a real interest in in-camera positives so wanted to throw out some more general and specific (to Lucy) questions here to set the ball rolling: 1) Lucy, what was the cours...

Re: Hi From Surrey
Welcome Bill. Really keen to learn how you got on with the Direct Positive paper. I'm a complete LF newbie but, as soon as my 8x10 kit is assembled, I'll be christening it with this paper. I really like the idea of in camera positives, though I will need to find a way of taming the contrast by pre-f...

Re: Hello from Aberdeenshire
Hi Lucy. What holders do you use for your wet plate work? Do you have special holders for glass plates, or is it possible to buy super thin glass that fits into existing film holders? Sorry for my ignorance on the subject. Started to get very interested about this when I read some stuff about Ambrot...

Re: WTB: Film Changing Tent for 8x10
Thanks deadpan - A saw? What's a saw?! Not that handy I'm afraid :D Thanks Joanne - That does seem very good value compared to the Harrison tents. Will think hard about whether a clumsy bloke such as myself will be able to load 10x8 dark slides and tanks within its petite space. Thanks Peter - That ...
