South Gare Lighthouse

Hi Folks - ok so this was taken on the last UKLF workshop. I've just started playing with real B&W film (this is delta 100) rather than a colour conversion. Shot was unfiltered and so low contrast. I played around quite a lot - deciding it was concrete and the hard gritty look suited. I'll be intere...

Re: WTB: Lee Big Stopper

Hi Tony - went to London the other day - met up with Nigel(s) and we wandered round town before going to see The Wall at the O2. Popped into Teamwork and had a quick looks at the LF stock - saw these. Ive no ideas as to how good /bad they are but a reputable brand, In stock and cheaper than a Lee :-...

Re: Storing open packets of film/Quickload

To coin a catchphrase 'SIMPLES' - ya put the expensive film at TOP of fridge / freezer so no accidental leaky milk etc gonna mess the film 8) Anything else doesn't really matter esp as I bought the fridge/freezer I get 1st dibs as to shelf contents !!! regards Tim

Re: Storing open packets of film/Quickload

Hi Jenny - I have a Fuji QL box with 'GO' written on both ends in big letters.... its got a mixture of QL in it - p100/v50/160s etc. that I drop in the camera bag when I go out. Its just dumped in the fridge between shoots. By the time I get to wherever, its warmed up - never seem to have any conden...

Re: WTB: Lee Big Stopper

Hi Tony et al - I went for a 6 stops - I reckoned if I wanted more, I could add the dark bit of an ND to the light path (as I carry 1,2 and 3 stop anyways). Moreover as 77mm is my current biggest filter size, I bought one that size.. SRB GRITURN supplied step up/down rings give me a good fit to all ...

Re: Next official get-together: April16 & 17

A sunrise on a UKLF get-together - I think this is a first - esp. on the ones I've been on ! Velvia 50 - I've only set black and white points and slightly upped the contrast. I've not boosted the saturation - I hope people don't think Its overblown ? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2456/5699922289_00...

Re: Next official get-together: April16 & 17

Another cliche shot - this looks better when not loaded to Flickr - they seem to mute the colours even tho profile is Adobe rgb . Anyhow - a lovely day out :-) Shot with Fuji 400t with my back to the harbour wall - could have done to go back another 10 yards but looks to spaced with a 240. http://fa...

Re: Next official get-together: April16 & 17

Ok - I'll start - First picture from UKLF Saltburn trip. Not my usual sorta subject - first real play with Black & White rather than a conversion from Velvia 50. Exposure unfiltered so was lacking in contrast - amazing what turning up the contrast to 11 can do when you scan :-) Shame the steam blew ...

Re: Ultra Large Format & Focus On Imaging

I've been most years recently apart from one where I went skiing (without the LF!). I'm planning on going on the Monday - I usually meet up with Nigel (Sutton) in the coffee bar / foyer area. There isn't a huge amount for the film shooter these days but there is usually an opportunity to pick up thi...

Re: V750 holder sharpness issue

Hi Folks - I've tried the multiscan route too - its either the film warming and expanding and/or the holder and/or the linear stepper accuracy that never quite lines up so you get ghosting etc. I first saw it on the writing on a headstone image I was scanning with multi scan (via vuescan) to try and...

Re: Printer economics - have I got this right?

I have a 3800 - in fact its over a year old and I'm just starting on some second cartridges. The printer is the dogs ! - it uses VERY little ink in cleaning etc to the point its largely not measureable esp in an 80 ml cartridge. Yes the initial 'load' of the printer from new out of the box uses cons...
