I recently found a cheapo plastic file box at Staples which holds six 5x7 holders perfectly, and a flat reallyusefulbox to carry four whole plates. Eight 4x5s go into a boxy 1950s camera case ... and that has a shoulder strap.

Far from perfect ... but cheap.

New Photo Magazine! (And new LF article published)

A new online and print magazine for photographers has just been launched. Called Creative Image Maker it is primarily for film users, but should be of interest to anyone interested in quality images. The Editor, David Vickers, asked me for an article on one of my camera designs, so I had to oblige ....

Matt ... for Era 100, I use Rodinal 1+50, 14 mins in an inversion tube. If I dev it in a roller drum then it's 11.5 mins, plus an extra 50ml of plain water.

That's probably derived from the MDC. :D

Hi Bob, if you don't count the sheets then every false move is a beautiful learning experience. Each streak and every blotch and scratch is a medal of honour. Welcome.

I've seen a number of good 90mm Angulon 6.8 lenses go on eBay for much less than £150. My own cost £70, early sixties, in rough cosmetic condition but with perfectly clean glass. Not a lot of movement available with this lens, but it's a great starter.

Whole Plate at Malmesbury

I was finally able to give my whole plate a bit of an airing. These were taken inside Malmesbury Abbey - it had to be inside ... outside it was drizzling down under low cloud. Quite instructive ... #02 was dev'd first at EI 100, and only saved through judicious Curving. #01 then had +2 dev, or maybe...

It was indeed a pleasure, if brief as I could only be there for the Saturday. My thanks must go first to Steve Bell for his excellent (and patient) navigation around the hazards and deviations of Stroud. Best not to get caught up in that again, but then maybe they will repair the flood damage soon. ...

A final update

A final update 'cos the camera's now finished. I got some mahogany lensboards from Scott Perry and made up the bellows over the past couple of days. Following on from the the original 'repaired' bellows, and then a bag bellows, I made one set that turned out awry. This one fits a treat though, and f...
