Re: Useful iPhone apps

A similar thread is going on on the American forum, and someone posted a link to an iphone light meter. I installed it on an iphone4, and so far have been really impressed... http://itunes.apple.com/app/pocket-l...381698089?mt=8 It must be really impressive, because it's sold out (or at any rate "n...

FS: Fuji GX680 MF camera kit

I've decided to rationalise my collection of cameras, and I'll shortly be listing a complete Fuji GX680 kit on ebay. I'd like to give UKLFPG members a chance to say no, or maybe even to buy at a pre-listing discount. OK, I know the GX680 is medium format, but you could say it's about as close to a l...

Re: Colour processing and water quality

First, congrats (and huge envy) from me on moving to such a lovely part of the world Second, when we lived in the UK's South Downs and drew water from SE Water, we had a similar experience with limestone in the kettle. It was amazing, and quite frightening, how quickly it formed. I found that the al...

No comment on how it could be done better, but I want to say you certainly have nailed the processing now. This is great. Well shot, and well processed.

Re: Using Readyload in a Polaroid holder?

There's a great discussion about the pros and cons of Readyloads and Quickloads in various holders, online here: http://www.largeformatphotography.info/holders.html#readyloads/ The opinion seems to be that Readyloads work better (i.e. with less potential for light leaks) in Polaroid 545 holders than...

Re: air mail from china?

As others have said, it sounds as if your hold-up is at the UK end. Your tracking information suggests that the package has reached inbound UK Customs, and experience shows it can sit there for quite some time before it moves. I don't think you can blame the Chinese! If they decide it should attract...

Re: A scrub up

I had a look at some of your pictures, Richard. I'm not sure if you've made those changes to the text that were recommended, but even with my dodgy eyesight I find the text easy to read. It looks good to me. Incidentally, for those who do have difficulty reading text on web pages, it's easy to momen...

Microtek i900

Does anyone have experience with the Microtek i900? I bought one second-hand earlier this year, looking for a way in to glassless (and Newton ringless) scanning, and it's rubbish. I suspect that the lamps have gone, because even when scanning a sheet of plain white Mellotex (reflectively, of course)...

Re: New LF user from London

Thank you very much Nigel and Paul...will try to order the book from the states. I bought some Polaroid and will soon start to play. N Sorry to come in so late. One book which hasn't been mentioned but which seems to cover the nuts and bolts of LF photography is Stroebel's "View Camera Technique". ...

Re: French MF/LF galerie-photo conf., Perpignan Oct 15-17, 2

I share your wife's reservations about the long sea crossing. Instead of driving the half a dozen miles to the Newhaven-Dieppe ferry, I'd rather drive across country to Folkestone and go through the tunnel - thus adding perhaps a hundred miles to an otherwise comfortable day's drive. However, Cherbo...

Re: French MF/LF galerie-photo conf., Perpignan Oct 15-17, 2

I checked with my sat.nav. and Perpignon is over a 1200 mile journey going via Dover so I must leave several days in advance of the start date and take a leisurley run down. All the best John Are you still planning to make that journey in October? I did the same journey in reverse across France las...
