Re: Fixed focus camera?

Steve Like the way your camera is shaping up, and also like the way you are taking your time making it. It looks like it will do the job. I've found that 65 lens is really good on 6x12 (centre filter issues not withstanding!). I dont see much point in a fixed focus camera. It's much better to be abl...

Re: After a new bag

Jenny, thanks for that. There seems to be as much choice in rucksacks as camera bags, and I'm find bag hunting a trifle dull - no where near a new lens or camera for interest, or even a light meter come to that - or even new wellies. Just got a decent new pair, and they are exciting.

Re: After a new bag

Thanks all. I'm well used to being out and about and thats why I originally went the converted rucksack route - I find a lot of proper gear bags have too many pockets and other extras that hold too many 'you never know when you might need it' type objects. I'm going to once more check out converting...

After a new bag

I've been making do with a good converted rucksack to carry gear around for years, but as ever the zips are starting to play up. I carry a folding 5x4, 4 compact lenses on small boards, usually around 6dds, 120 back, meter, cloth, lupe and a few other bits and bats - sounds like a common enough list...

Re: LF darkroom enlargement vs scanning

In the end it seems to me the digital route is a good thing because the darkroom puts off a great many people, especially doing big prints, and big prints come easy digitally - all you need is a prepared file and a decent printer. I'll carry on doing darkroom work as long as I can for many reasons. ...

Thats a good comparison of papers you have done there. For a good cool paper Multigrade is hard to beat, but the Foma paper is also good, and its cheaper, If its straight B+W those two are tops.

Great weather

Right now outside it's a really georgeous day. The sun is out, it's warm. and very little breeze. Clear blue sky with some straggly thin cloud. Beautiful photography weather? I dont mind it at all apart from when I'm feeling lazy (like now!)

A lot of 150's are very sharp and often much sharper than wide angle or proper telephoto lenses, and some of the old angulons and super angulons vary for what ever reason quite a lot. If you get a good looking symmar s or a rodenstock off e-bay they will spoil you in terms of comparing their sharpne...

Sounds like a strange competition. Are they after a new set of advertising pics in some way? The prizes come from them too.

Matt. Welcome. Good luck with the company. If you were to be selling raw chemicals, film and paper, (and all at reasonable prices!) I would be interested. Common raw b+w chemicals, different makes of film and paper at half Silverprint prices would be great. I'm sure you will get loads of help here, ...

I had a battery eating problem with a Minolta meter, always left the battery in while taking photographs, but at the end of the day I took the battery out till next time, and it really lasted an amazing length of time.

Just a quick up-date. Did a test with Fomapan 100, and found it iso 50, and dev'd in ID-11 1+2 in a Jobo for 8 mins, whereas I would do FP4 iso 80 for 10.5 mins. Very decent negs, and not unlike FP4. Not tried it yet in really contrasty light, like full sun, but I imagine reducing development a litt...

Rob. I reckon you are right to use extended times with reciprocity. All that f22 vs f4 with the same time stuff is right also. I'm usually an FP4/Delta user, and I like to think I have reciprocity under control with MF and LF, but using a different film - as I am going to do now with Fomapan - means...
