Hi Jo, Overhere in OZ, the vast landscapes are blessed with plenty of sunshine and inherently alot of glares. If I am shooting in afternoon sun, 99% of the time I would have the polariser on. Since I always meter the shadow, and to think of it, it does become instinctive now. I do confirm the meter ...

Hi Jo/Helen, Have these started off as colour transparencies? I like the 1st one. The composition works for me because it tells me that the light house must be battered by rough sea when the weather is bad. Someone must have taken their time to lay these breakwalls in an orderly fashion. The sky is ...

"Sea Moon Rocks"

Hello All, This was taken at South West Rock, NSW. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k265/vuichong/SeaMoonRocks.jpg Exposure was taken (spot meter) on the shadow area and the reading was set directly onto shutter without any compensations since I had a polariser on to take away the glares. Any comme...

8x10 Portrait

Hello, This was taken on 8x10 and the lens used was 355mm F9 Schneider G-Claron. If I remembered well, a green filter was used to render the skin somewhat porcelain liked. http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k265/vuichong/Lizi2.jpg One studio flash head was used and this was positioned at perpendicula...

Hi Jo, As Ole has pointed out in the last post, the E6 chemicals suprisingly do last a long time. I am using expired Kodak E6 5 litres kit and the trannies still turned out beautifully. First developer is the chemical which is proned to deterioration and I stored this in one of those concertina bott...

Hi Gari, This was taken on Kodak 100S (4x5). I had to wait for half an hour for the sun to be covered for this shot. Even then I had only 30 seconds to grap 2 shots. It was a sunny day (blue sky) and the rocks were just situated behind a hill and with lots of tree shadows casted on it. For metering,...

Hi Gari, This was taken with Wista 4x5 and film used was Fuji Velvia. This was taken on an overcast morning light around 10ish. Forest shot like this is best taken on overcast light than cloudless day as the contrast would be too high for the film to cope (just thought I will mentioned it as you poi...

Hi Gari, Like Marc, I find the colour calming and I think the perfect reflection also conveyed a very calm evening (or dawn??). The only thing which I will pick on (if I may) is the boat's front end (i don't know the right term) on the furthest right is sitting too on the edge of the film. I find it...

Hi Andrew,
I was there last summer, which seems long time ago. I did enjoy myself and I had some good close-up shots of some interesting plants that you could find around the garden. It is definitely worth a visit, especially at this time of the year.

Richie,
Glad this shot did something for you. The original file is nearly 1gig, yes 1gig! and is way too big to post on any websites. The 4x10 transparency is awesome when view on a light box. So much more details and textures than what you could, unfortunately, view on the small jpeg file.

Modified 8x10 DDS

Hi Gari, Yes, it is a chopped up dark slide like this one:- http://www.benderphoto.com/4x10pa.htm I had a damaged dark slide which I made full use of. It is a pain to use in the field because you have to compose the scene on the top half, take your picture (and must remember which half has been expo...
