Lancaster Rectigraph values

Came across two Lancaster Rectigraph lenses today in rather good condition exceept no mounting flanges.

One was a brass 15x12 (24") and the other a silver (aluminium) 12x10 (18"), what's the typical price range for these lenses, they date from 1886-early 1900's.

Re: Is there any point in using an 80C for scanned Pro 160?

Well Fuji recommend using an 80A for Tungsten lighting, so an 80C would be better than nothing, there's some latitude when scanning or conventional printing.

Re: Shutter Values on lens

You could try Ellis & Newton in Liverpool for the repair, I use Black on White in Bristol but not sure whether John there is into really vintage shutters. I like my older shutters and their speeds are on my light meters :D In fact a selling point was they could be set to speeds in between the markin...

Re: Shutter Values on lens

The flush clean has resurrected at least a dozen shutters for me over the years, in fact all my older Compur's are more accurate than my newer Copal's but then they are far btter made :D Even my 1913 Dial set Compur works well. I keep the hoppy IPA for more useful purposes :D and they are great for ...

Re: Shutter Values on lens

They are the reciprocal values as you've assumed. It's not unsusual for the slower speeds to get sticky and slow with leaf shutters like Copal/Compur etc, that tends to mean they need a CLA (Clean, Lubricate, re-Assembly). Sometimes a quick flush clean with alcohol or lighter fuel is sufficient (nee...

Re: WTB: Rodenstock Grandagon-N 90 mm f/4.5

The only time they can add VAT only to their markup is when it's a commission sale. Once they buy an item they have to sell with VAT on the whole price. It's surprising how few commission sales there are but some photo stores have always been selling some items that way since the 1970's. I've bought...

Re: Prefect 4x5 enlarger

PS. Is there any way of accessing that information about the enlarger and lenses from the BJP almanac,Ian? Well every copy from 1939-1963 plus a few earlier copies are now out of storage in boxes and on a shelf. So it's a case of what year to start looking  I think about 1954 :) seems to rin...

Re: Prefect 4x5 enlarger

Ed's right. The Prefect will be a condenser enlarger unless it's very cheap £25'ish and you can check the condition of the condensers it's a bit risky, the lenses maybe past it as well. I do have details of the enlarger in a BJP Almanac, and the lenses. I used an old Johnson's V54 enlarger which is ...

Re: Lens for a MPP

Anyone selling a lens will normally state the make of shutter & size, if they don't then you can ask but only Compur made a 00 so it'll only be found on German lenses, and there's only a few very early 90mm f8 SA's in a Compur 00 anyway and the early 65mm's. With the 90mm the tell tale sign is the 0...

Re: Lens for a MPP

A point I'd missed not having a Canon 5D is it's full frame so your 17-40mm is on the wdider side, so you might want to look at a 65mm or 75mm Super Angulon or Grandagon. The 75mm f8 SA is less common but has better coverage than the 65mm, I've used both lenses on my Wista 45DX and the 75mm on my Cr...
