Hi Paul,
I'm quite interested in the holder for dry mounting 4x5.
Would it be possible to post some crops of the comparison scans that you made between this and the epson holder?
Thanks,
Tom.

You'll have to give me a bit of time to digest your post Charles, fascinating stuff, but I have to say, those are extremely noisy scans .

Thanks for the replies, Alan, Glencoe will look great in October, I stopped by on my way home from Skye, but the light wasn't very good. Amazing location though. Really nice shots Gari, I have a couple from that evening too, but I need to push the exposure on them before I scan. I'll sort out the so...

Hi everyone, just like to say thanks for all the help, especially Gari, who shared so many locations on Mull, and even met up for a shoot one evening, sorry I didn't contact you about meeting up again Gari but the weather was pretty lowsy for the rest of the time on mull. We got some great light on ...

Skye and Mull

Hi, I will be heading up to Scotland with my parents and the dog on saturday for a week on Mull, followed by a week on Skye. I'm shooting 4x5 on an Ebony and my Dad will be using a Hasselblad. Have a feeling it might be a bit wet . We will be staying in Salen on Mull and Torrin on Skye. Just w...

Thanks for all the replies, I will try switching drives first, cause the new one is a lot quieter than what I have at the moment, but I might try leaving the other one in as well if I'm still not getting very good performance.

Opening .dng files in PS

Hi, I recently discovered Vuescan which I am now using with my v700 to scan my 5x4, at 2400dpi. In Vuescan you can save scans as .dng files (which means I can put them through camera raw when I open them in PS and adjust WB etc.). First time I tried this it worked fine, and I thought ok, I'll have a...

Ok, this is a really tricky subject, and one I don't understand that well, but I think this is right: The role of colour management is to ensure that the colours stay the same throughout your workflow, as you go from one device to another. This is necessary because an RGB number that your camera or ...

Yeah I have one of those for my RSW as well, although most of the time I use a lowepro photo-trekker.

:D Thanks everyone.
I think I like Joanna's idea of metering for the shadows and (presumably not adding but taking away) 2 stops? That seems to make sense. Is that the same for provia, or do I need to change the number of stops?
Thanks,
Tom.
