Hi Paul, But they would not be metering the same light, if the SF user needed 2min at f4 then he would have 5 stops less light than the LF user who needed 2min at f22 Yes, I agree the LF user has more light outside the camera, but by using f22 instead of f4 they attenuate the light entering the came...

Hi Ian, So for instances shooting LF & stopping down to f22 & a 2minute exposure is significantly different to a 35mm/120 user shooting at f4 with a 2 minute exposure, there's five stops difference in light levels. For this reason companies like Ilford only publish very generalised reciprocity table...

but I seem to have a real problem in seeing a midtone when it comes to colour Mike, if its any use I find shaded grass or wood to be a good starting point, although I expect your B+W experience will translate across nicely. reds yellows have more range than blues - +3 is transparent with yellows, +...

I use the same meter as Mike, and started off using the mode where you take up to 10 spot readings which are displayed on a linear scale. Then adjust the midtone setting to slide all the measured points up and down the scale, to best fit between the upper and lower limit markers you programmed for t...

Thats a shame, lets hope Peak have enough business to keep the current price levels. We can at least be thankful that if the industry does consolidate into one or two processing labs that in Peak we have somewhere that does a good job for the price. Weird thing was the Leach announcement came throug...

I can see the usefulness in some circumstances, but for me it came down to a much simpler decision - I purchased my 45S second hand from RW for approx. £3000 less than a new 45SU. I didn't think that asymmetric movements were worth that to me, so decision made! I've never felt handicapped by centre ...

In my experience the 50 is more saturated with a little less dynamic range than the 100, so depends on the scene really. I quite like the 100(nonF) - it doesn't have that slightly cool look of Provia, but having said that I tend to use Provia more because its cheaper (e.g. Robert White's 3 for 2 off...

Paul, You don't need the CPE2 processor to use the Jobo tank. I use a 2521 (if I remember correctly - at work at present) with a 2509 spiral (although I only load a maximum of 4 sheets of 5x4 at a time). I hand roll the tank up and down a table top, using 300ml of solution rather than the much large...

Hi Nigel, I can see what Joanna means, I just saved the bridge image and loaded into CS3 - the bulk of the histogram is over on the left side, which is why the image appears a little dark. I just tried a quick curve adjustment layer and it comes up nicely, although needs a little masking to hold bac...

Hi Paul, I would be interested in meeting up in Suffolk. Looks like you've spent some time at Benacre! We've had several holidays in and around Southwold (mmm Fish & Chips from the hut at the harbour, and of course Adnams :D ). Also very partial to the North Norfolk coast from Wells to Holme... Jona...
