Re: Hi from London/Oxford

Hello Matt, pleased to read you've found your way into LF. My first view camera was a tiny 6x9cm field camera and needless to say it has led to bigger things over years, so be prepared

Re: Hello from London

Hi Rupert, welcome to the wonderful world of LF, I'm sure you will have no regrets, heartaches maybe :? In my opinion it is all worth it in the end when you start getting the results you visualised.

Re: how do you store your lenses?

When not in use (carried in camera bag) lenses are stored in a draw with a small dehumidifier.

Re: Schneider 110mm XL and Nikkor 120mm f8

I have and use both the 80 and 110XL lenses and they offer superb quality. My 110XLis sharper then the 80 at full aperture. But as I always stop down this is never an issue. I use the 80 more as my style of photography is of the wider view. The 110 offers a much more gentle view of the world and as ...

Re: fingerprints

Leon, I wear nitrile (latex free) gloves which I buy quite cheaply on Ebay.

They are chemical resistant so are also great for handling darkroom chemicals.

Re: Equipment or photographer?

Hopefully someone can shed some light on the comment I'm about to make. But, I've heard on a couple occasions that Joe sells his Ebony's every so often as the bodies develop a certain amount of play. Amateur photographers perhaps wouldn't notice this. I'm sure I remember him offering one of his Ebo...

Re: Hello All

Hi Leon, good to see you here and that you've decided to go with 4x5. I think its a good all round format capable of delivering superb tonality which is something I know you will appreciate :)

Re: One of the perrenial questions of LF: which backpack?

Hi Michael, while I don't use the Tamrac Expedition 7 for 4x5, I have used the 5 (replaced by a Ortileb backpack/roller) to good use. It held my Ebony SW45 with a lens attached, spare lens on Linhof panel, light meter, up to 10 DDS's, and the usual extras, cable release, torch, pens, small tools, cl...

Thanks Steve. I do miss the publications of Creative Monochrome. Roger certainly did a lot to for me. I do see him occasionally, although it has been over a year since we last met up :(

I'm sorry DJ it doesn't. Although I've used DD-X I didn't really get on with it. Much prefer PMK pyro :)

Re: From the smokes

I also remember that there was an accompanying shot of a beach in Sussex with an animal skull in the foreground? Gosh you really do have a good memory Paul!!!! That one was taken again on the Pentax 6x7 using a fisheye lens. If I remember correctly the beach was Pett Levels, Sussex. However I over ...

Re: Ebony SW23 being offered on eBay

I would certainly recommend this model to anyone thinking of a medium format view camera. One of my most used cameras - so portable, being compact and relatively light, great for taking abroad.
