Re: PHOTOKINA 2012, a report with images
Thanks for all this. What we really need is a double roll-film back that will simultaneously expose two photos each 6x9cm so that when sheet film disappears, we can scan and blend the two in PhotoShop to recreate the sheet film look... Salutations, Charles A bit of back rise/fall or shift and a 6x1...

Re: Mac iPhoto.
Haveyou recently update the Operating system or iphoto to a new version or anything like that? If so could it have started a new blank library during the upgrade, leaving your old stuff in a library file somewhere? Might be worth a search of your hard drive for anynlibrary files.

Re: Mac iPhoto.
Assuming you run some kind of regular backup (time machine or otherwise) then you should be able to get them back. Probably just your library file is corrupted? Unless you accidentally deleted them...(check the trash!).

Re: B&W film and ND Grads?
One of the big shockers for me after using Velvia was shooting some FP4+ and realising from the datasheet that the reciprocity failure quoted for ilford film is actually worse than Velvia!

Re: B&W film and ND Grads?
Nah, black&white is all neg film. There used to be a slide film mage by agfa years ago, not sure if it was ever made in large format.
There are ways of processing black&white neg film to give positive transparencies but it sounds like a ballache.

Re: B&W film and ND Grads?
If you're used to using velvia with up to 5 stops of grad then you'll find that on b&w film its within the usual range. In extremes they still might give you an easier to scan neg though.

Re: Which Dark Cloth?
Having owned one breifly when it came with a camera I bought I wouldn't recommend a Harrison cloth (or similar) for anything other than studio work. I don't understand the appeal of a huge heavy expensive darkcloth that acts like a huge sail and can flip your camera over in a light breeze. Seems tot...

Re: Polarising filter - coated or non coated?
Generally I've never had any problems with formatt filters, but I've never used any of their screw-ins, only square resins. I doubt you'll have any problems with one of their polarisers. Bear in mind the Lee 105mm polariser itself is nothing special, its made by Hoya. If you don't mind a bit of edge...

You can get a standard Lee 86mm adapter ring that will screw onto the front of the IIIb as per normal.
