Re: Arca Swiss F Line (171) vs Ebony SV45Te

Sorry - it's the focussing rails I meant. You tighten up the philips screws at the top of the metal plates. Carry a screwdriver around with you though as when damp, the wood expands and can lock up the rails; loosen the screws off before this happens (if it does happen, it isn't anything to worry a...

Re: Arca Swiss F Line (171) vs Ebony SV45Te

Yep ... I just spin mine completely open so it never happens.. I also have the standards quite tight so focus doesn't really shift even when locking down. Annoying though.. Tim Hi Tim, My focussing seems too "free" when i back off the left hand locking screws. Is there a way of restricting this fre...

Re: Arca Swiss F Line (171) vs Ebony SV45Te

Thanks Dave, I'd like to echo Tim's comments on the thoroughness of your review. I think we were both in a similar "acquisition" mode a few months back, I was trying to get an SV45TE to compliment my TK45. Last weekend I had the opportunity with 2 clear frosty days to do a back to back comparison of...

WTB - Nikkor 75mm f4.5

Does anyone out there have a Nikkor 75mm f4.5 they're willing to sell?

Drop me a line if you do.

I don't want to revert to the auction site if I can help it.

Thanks,
Mike

Re: WTB - Ebony 5x4

Yet another 45SU on the auction site, and from a top rated seller. I toyed with bidding as it sat at £1.20 :P , but I'll leave it for the serious players! You'd have been outbid......it's reached the heady heights of £2.20 already :P I'm glad I convinced myself I didn't need asymmetric's and ...

Re: WTB - Ebony 5x4

Seeing any camera as an investment will become less and less viable if the film supply starts to dry up. The worry then would be that prices will start to drop. Personally I don't see mine as an investment, I see it as a tool to use in the pursuit of my hobby (albeit a VERY NICE tool). If it gives y...

Hi Paul,

Yes, yes, I bet you are and I can see why :D

Sadly I'm traveling again next week, so the itch will remain for a few days more

Many thanks for our help.

Hi Dave, I guess we must be thinking along the same lines  Arca's are almost as hard to come by as Ebony's. Once I get an Ebony, I'll part with my TK45, or my 45AII, or my 45DX....after all, there are only so many 5x4 cameras I can justify  I'm hoping an Ebony will cure me of this GAS i'...

WTB - Ebony 5x4

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy an Ebony 5x4 (I guess I'm not alone there?), preferably non-folding (such as 45SU :D ) but open to other models.

Let me know what you have.

Thanks,
Mike

I wish he had taken my offer, but he mentioned getting a better price as a commission sale from ffordes, so they're either taking a low commission or he's getting a lower price than he expected from the auction site.

If it's the same one, it was on an auction website with a starting price of 2695! I approached the seller who was unwilling to move from the price.

Same here. It cost around £30 for 1000 glassine bags.

It's a pity they don't make the KNF019 sheets anymore which held four 5x4 films per sheet.
