B&W Processing Advice for newbie developer

Well, I've finally succumbed to peer pressure and got myself setup for some home film processing. :D I'm a complete novice in the darkroom so you'll have to bear with me. I've got myself a CPE/2 and drum/reel etc and all the hardware I need. I've seen Tim Parkin's videos so I'm pretty comfortable wi...

Re: Focus

The usual really, a few box shifters, a few OEMs, very little large format stuff, except at Linhof Studio, which aren't cheap. Highlights I remember : Paramo are there and I got to check out the dark-cloth in person, seems like a nice bit of kit but I'm not sure I need it. Joe Cornish was on the sta...

Re: Film processing, home vs lab

As an interesting side-note, I spoke today with a man from Harman/Ilford, regrettably I never got his name but I believe he's the sales/marketing director. Thoroughly nice bloke and very open about the market etc and I very much enjoyed chatting with him. I mentioned this thread to him and asked him...

Re: Film processing, home vs lab

I'd like to know what lab that is and have a word with them. If E6 is finished in about 2 months time then we have a situations where a multimillion turnover film industry has no way of developing it's product... wow!? The lab in question was Rapid Eye. I think the prediction was for the end of the...

Re: Film processing, home vs lab

The article was only referring to E6, but the poll should be any processing, E6, C41 & Mono.

If for example it's split, you do B&W processing at home but send out the E6, that's what the third option is for.

Film processing, home vs lab

Not wanting to start any more scaremongering threads but.... I bought the first issue of the new monthly format BJP today and had a quick skim through ( really liking the format ). There is a story in there about E6 processing coming to and end, and interviewing several labs which process E6, or hav...

Re: BJP

As I understand it, Bauer media don't own any of the mags mentioned here. Or is there something I don't know about? No they don't, it was a tenuous link  The information on Bauer Media's recent wickedness was just reported on the BJP site and I was reminded of it when I went to check on news ...

Re: BJP

Nothing on the website... I have mixed feelings about this, I enjoy BJP and think it's one of the few mags worth reading, but then I don't buy it every week because there's often not enough in it to justify the weekly expense. On the one hand going monthly will make for a larger magazine with much m...

Another one on the Jobo CPx bandwagon

Having had a moment of madness and picking up a CPE-2 processor bath on fleabay, I find myself needing all the right bits to go with it. I've worked out I need either a 2521 or 2523 drum, depending on whether the CPE-2 needs a magnetic or cog drum ( not seen one yet, so I don't know ). I also need a...

Re: basic scanner questions

Elements 6 is not really up to the job for correcting scanned photos. It is very much a "consumer" product for those who use diddy digi-cams. Unfortunately, the full version is a very much better product - it's just a matter of biting the bullet pricewise. I would argue this point, what exactly doe...

Re: Ektar 100 in LF sizes - can it be true?

Forgive my ignorance, but I only really use two films so I'm not really au faut with what one might expect from Ektar 100. Everybody seems very excited about it.

What sort of film is it? What sort of characteristics does it have? Anyone have any experience?

As I understand it, messages will sit in the Outbox until the recipient logs in, after which it will move to their inbox. The "admin" user isn't a manned account. It's used to install the forum software, after which proper user names are created and then given admin status, thus ensuring all admin f...

Re: Unauthorised Usage

According to the latest from BJP, there has been a concession to the legislation surrounding orphan works and what constitutes a "reasonable search" to find the author, instead of leaving it open to interpretation : http://www.bjp-online.com/public/showPage.html?page=873216 however the clause which ...
