Re: LF camera wanted sinar p2?
Muz, let's see if we can arrange a get together in the Manchester area, maybe next week? Marizu, is there a chance we could persuade John and Fourtoes to let us meet there in case it rains? I've spoken to Muz. He's just round the corner from me. We're going to try to meet over the next few days. I ...

Re: Hello from the Manchester area
Hi Muz, I saw your posts earlier today.
I live very close to you but I'm really busy at the moment and I've been trying to figure out how soon I can dedicate a little time.
I'll PM you my phone number so we can have a chat.

Re: Fomapan 100 film
Ok. I would be interested in seeing it without the sharpening, too.
Sometimes sharpening thresholds/settings can exaggerate the acutance of grain type effects.

Re: Fomapan 100 film
I use it in 5x4 and 10x8. I print optically from it. 10x8 are contact prints and 5x4 are through an enlarger. I have printed 5x4 up to 20x16 and I haven't really noticed any defects in the emulsion. I develop in Fotospeed FD 10. I'll have to scan some on my V700 and take a close peep. What kind of s...

Re: Somewhere to disappear (Alec Soth)
It might be worth mentioning it to local college art departments (not necessarily photography).
Hope you manage to pull it off and I hope that it screens somewhere closer to Manchester!

Re: 240mm lens advice, please
Does it absolutely need to be a 240mm?
The 210mm 5.6 Symmar-S usually goes cheaper than the 240mm.
The 210mm is lighter than the 240 and comes in a smaller shutter.
It will save you a bit of bellows extension and unless you need to cover 10x8 it will still provide generous movements.

Re: Studio Photography
This is absolutely worth doing! For contemporary reference, take a look at the work of Albert Watson who regularly shoots people in large format. You have probably been seeing a lot of his Steve Jobs portrait recently. Take a look at his Vegas work (NSFW). Hans Neleman's Moklo-Maori was shot on LF, ...

Re: Wet mounting
It's a pain. The (UK) V700 doesn't come with the fluid mount holder. People on the US forum don't seem to like the official holder because the scanning head scans through it (or something like that). You would probably need to use a betterscanning holder. For 10x8, your only option is to scan on the...

Hi Josef. I like the uncluttered easily navigable nature of your website. Like Julian, I'm not too keen on the yellow links. I think that each body of work could benefit from a small description to assist with understanding your intent. This was a lot clearer to me when I had visited The Third Facto...

Re: Instant Film :: FP100C45
This stuff comes in two different sizes (that I am aware of). "Fuji Instant FP100C 31/4x41/4 Glossy or Matt - Single dated 09/07" is 3 and 1/4 inch by 4 and 1/4 inch rather than the full 4x5 inch of the other one. The smaller one is much less expensive. You use a different Polaroid holder for each t...

Re: Is there any point in using an 80C for scanned Pro 160?
Just to update the thread for future reference. I didn't actually try this because most of the exposures that I made were 40 to 90 minutes long. Sticking the 80C in front would have taken them out by one stop, increasing exposure by... loads? When I have finished developing and scanning and evaluati...

Re: Thinking of jumping into LF
If you go the route of trying to replace the 6x6 camera with a 5x4 and roll film then you will need a super wide lens (65mm or 50mm?). It can be difficult to tease many movements out of 5x4 cameras with one of these attached due to the crunched together standards. This is one reason why the (digital...

There are different models.Thingy wrote:The big downside of Walker cameras is that the back is fixed. Rear tilt is essential for architectural photography to correct distortion of perspective.
The Titan SF has rear movements.

Re: Thinking of jumping into LF
You can get a pre-loved camera and lens from the auction site for £300. It might be a technical camera like the MPP or it might be a monorail. This would depend upon your needs. I own lenses that will cover 5x4 from 65mm-600mm (17mm-200mm equivalent) but the only camera that will take them ALL is a ...
