Re: Fife Meeting Saturday Februsary 18th

It was great catching up with David and Chris. Thank you for organising the venue. Here be a couple pics from the morning: http://citiesandparks.com/uklfpg/Dollar03TN.jpg The forecast said snow, dark clouds and sun. I thought they were hedging their bets, but that's exactly what happened. The snow-l...

WTB Cable Release Extension

Hello,
Does anybody have a Cable Release Extension - a cable which will take my standard shutter release on one end and screw into the shutter at the other end?
Thank you.

Re: Compound shutter - cap for piston

Thanks Sandeha. A fine screwdriver is a must with these shutters, I have found. And I am not talking Made in China, £1 for a set either. I have made some progress by myself, by purchasing some o-rings. Even when I sorted the threads out so the cap could screw all the way to the bottom, the speeds we...

Compound shutter - cap for piston

I have a compound shutter which is generally in working order. However, the piston is not doing its job very well, because the caps to the piston body leak. In fact, one of them must have been cross-threaded at one stage because it won't wind all the way to the bottom. So... Do I just insert some ga...

It'll be nice to catch up with our brothers and sisters north of the border.
Thanks Chris for putting this up.

Re: WTB: Nikkor 450 f/9

A great lens for sure. Quite heavy, well dense actually, I suppose. Have you thought of an ApoRonar 420mm or 480mm? I have the 420mm now and I picked up a barrel version for a third the price of the be-shuttered Nikkor. More common too. It's a dialyte design, I believe, and so able to be damned shar...

If enough people want to gang up, I'd be interested in the Efke and possibly the Kodak 160VC.
Thanks,

Lens: Rectilinear or newer?

I am the happy owner of a Rodenstock Anastignar, about which there seems to be precious little information online or in the Vade-me-cum. I am trying to work out if it's a rapid rectilinear or something more sophisticated designed in the 1890's. It's a brass tube with a lens group at each end. So it'...

Cut metal and lens panels

I don't know if this is any use to folk here, but while looking for lens panels with holes for non-standard lenses (barrel lenses in my case) for my Sinar, I stumbled upon this Ebay shop , which can produce: Four of 139mm x 139mm 4mm thick aluminium Including P+P would be £21.52 Four of 139mm x 139m...

Books on developing negs

Is there a good book out there covering the various methods to control the appearance of a negative (density, contrast)? Or even an online resource? I've heard of Ansal Adams' book 'The Negative' but haven't read it - not sure how much of a cook book it is. I am sure there are plenty of others. I am...

Is that the same idea as what I see on Richard Cynan Jones Flickr page? If so, I am impressed and would like to learn more about your experience.
