Re: Aren't you glad you used film?!

Reading all this makes me realise how glad I am that all I have to worry about with my negs and non-digital stuff, is fire, flood, mice and moths :)

Re: British Large Format Landscape Photographers

You can add me to the list too if you don't mind.
These days I am almost exclusively 5x4; mostly landscape and strange things and some portraits. They're not scanned, not on the web . . all B&W, developed, processed and printed by me :D

Re: Gossen Lunasix 3s Zone system dial?

Hi Matthew -the Lunasix 3S is a great meter. To use the Zone system bit, take your reading (say 14 for example on the meter needle dial) align it with the yellow triangle; just below that is the silver LW/EV strip which will give a 'value of just below 9' (in this example). This is aligned with the ...

Hi Sal and everyone - thanks for the replies. I too tried the MCC beta test and liked it, though it has been a long time coming. I'm maybe thinking of the Adox Vario, as I'm just not sure about the extra optical brighteners etc in MGFB - we shall see though, I s'pose a box of 25 is only about £18. A...

It can be a bit confusing at first, but be totally methodical. You've numbered your slides, so that is a start, stack them in order, so start with 1, turn it over to 2, then put that aside (I use a seperate clip lock lunch box, and actually place the empty DDS in that, so there is no confusion of em...

Hi Folks - thanks for all the interesting replies. I am still in a dillemma, however I am narrowing things down a bit. Foma is out (as they only start at 9.5x12) - I decided that seeing as I've standardised on 8x10 I can't afford the extra dishes nor the fact my paper safe is only an 8x10 one . . .s...

Never used an FLM, though I like the look and the idea of all that weight saving. Gitzo low profiles are nice (Steve Mulligan recommends them for his Toyo). I for my sins own a Series 5 low profile! It was ex-British Museum, weighs a ton , but was dirt cheap and battered to bits. It cleaned up beaut...

B&W Fibre Printing Paper recommendations?

Hi folks - since I restarted photographing a few years back, I've used a few B&W papers, but am wanting to try out some more. I like neutral to cold image tones on a plain white base. I've used a small mountain of Kentmere Fineprint, which though I like, I feel might be able to be beaten; I've also ...
