Just off to Buchaille this weekend with 2 tons of cement, a mixer, some Alsatians and some of those old fashioned cinema tickets on a roll, oh, and not forgetting my armband and official's hat

You know that is perfect - wonder if we'll see them for sale at Robert White's anytime soon  Maybe Gitzo could start a new accessory range . . . they could have a different series alarm of varying intensity depending on the value of your tripod. Or how about just forgetting about people taking ...

no problems with the river - just attach one of these to each leg (you have to buy two sets, but at least then you'll have a spare)

I don't think I could ever walk away and leave a tripod no matter how scatterbrained I am getting - why don't you get one of these bad-boys http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.fineart-selection.de/Varia/bilder/linhof3.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.fineart-selection.de/Varia/linhof_e.html&...

Hi Fabien - this is what I researched when I was looking for my F. The earliest are just called F; they have a low profile rail clamp, a bit similar to a Norma - it is captive to the rail and you can only remove it by removing one of the standards. After the F, came the F+ which was the same as the ...

Hi Fabien - I can recommend the Sinar Fs (the F apparently stands for Field). If you buy a 6" rail the whole camera can be compacted down onto that for travelling. They are a bit bulky, but if you can find an early one with the lower profile rail clamp, then you have found a good thing! You can also...

Never having had to change a lens on a board in the field I find twisty fingernails works well for me  The Angulon btw is a great lens for non-movements in a trying to lessen the load sort of way and the later ones in Synchro Compur 0's will cover 5x4 no probs. Dave has a point about shutters t...

I've never bought a new lens. 150mm Symmar-S - £150 203mm Ektar - £45 90mm Angulon (late model - stops down to f45) - £100 The Symmar-S is a great lens - there are lots out there and very very reasonable - Thalmann says it equals the Sironar-S for sharpness, and to be honest I find mine quite wonder...

Can I add my twopenneth for a Linhof Twin Shank Pro - relatively light, utterly stable, just a bit bulky! Bob Rigby has one for £150 with a Linhof head (not sure which model head that is though). I have a 70's version and you can still buy spares from Linhof - mine cost £35 in scabby condition; and ...

Thanks for all the interesting answers - looks like I've got a super-speedy one! My transtab, makes a very slight hum, but as everything seems to work fine, I feel it is probably working quite normally. The bulbs I am using are the ruggedised Philips ones (I think off the top of my head about 1000 h...

It's rare to find anything on photography in the media let alone lands...

The Ektar arrived on Friday and boy am I chuffed! Surprisingly the Prontor is pretty much bang on on at all speeds except for 1 sec, and even then it is only a tad out compared to my newish Copal 0. You've got to love the sound of it though - not a high pitched snap like the Copal, but a right mid t...

Cheers Matt - just found their site; I'll see what they say!
Really looking forward to the Ektar - currently using a 150mm Symmar-S, but wanted something a tad longer - still can't quite believe the price actually . . .
