Shutter CLA

Hi folks - though it hasn't arrived yet, I've just managed to buy a Mount 370, 203mm f7.7 Kodak Ektar, in a Prontor SVS shutter. The glass appears to be in first class condition for its age, but I am assuming the shutter will probably be a bit off. Does anyone have any recommendations about good rep...

Hi - if you are new to LF then you shouldn't go crazy and buy the most expensive camera! The old Sinar F is a fine camera and can travel in a 22ltr rucksack compacted down onto the 6 inch rail, with the lens attached, and is still reasonably light. There's still tons of Sinar stuff out there at v re...

Sorry - forgot to add, I am using Kentmere Fineprint, which I quite like.
I have sort of standardised on 10x8. I did wonder about putting things under the lens, but wonder if these will affect print quality.

DeVere 504 brighter than a million suns

Hi Folks - the 24v/250W bulb in my 504 is almost too bright to make prints on 8x10's. I find I am having to deal with exposure times of less than 6 secs, which is just a bit too frantic for my liking. Any ideas on how I can cut down the intensity of the light without stopping down too much (I've had...

The sleeves from Silverprint are unbuffered University Products sleeves and are actually really rather nice if you match them up with their 5x4 neg box. It certainly looks better than the glassines in a Ziplok bag which is what i was keeping them in!

Hi Steve and Apple - thanks for the replies. Well this is the start of my second year of doing LF, so I'm still picking up tips etc etc. I did find problems (although slight) with Printfile and Clearfile and the Glassine bags were only really a stopgap, hence my wish to use something a bit more subs...

Thanks for the info Steve - I did wonder about Secol stuff - the Transleeves looked about right for my purpose, but I just wasn't sure how they would be with regard to fiddlyness of getting the negatives in, abrasion of said neg, and static. Even with my ioniser, I find taking 120 negs out of Polyes...

Postman P.A.T.

Hi Folks - yesterday i spent what seemed like an inordinate amount of money (nearly 25 squid for 100) on nice cotton rag 5x4 negative sleeves from Silverprint; basically I've used Printfile (a tussle + staticky), Clearfile (OK but staticky) and Glassine (not exactly inspiring confidence) and I feel ...

Newbie B/W processing question

Hi - just my two-penneth. I gave up on Ilfotol as I found it to leave a residue; it didn't happen all the time, but it did enough times to be annoying! I now use a few drops of Ecover washing up liquid, rinse the negative thoroughly under running water and then suspend the film with a plastic clothe...

Hi Paul, thanks for that; having had a quick skeg at some of the stuff up here, surely that should be welcome to The Tearoom . . .

Hello From Scotland

Hi Folks - excuse my ramblings, but I've never really done anything like this before! Well after having had a look around the LF site for a whle, I thought it was time I removed the digit and got involved. My name is Phil Rogers, I live in Dundee, and for the past year I've been hauling a battered b...
