Re: Calculating exposures
If you want to borrow my light-meter, something like this, http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=1139&PT_ID=179 while the foundry cast you a new part, I can pop it in the post. You know us wetplate photographers don't need light-meters we just look up to the sky, pull the finger from our mou...

Re: Services Forum
Old isn't new Charles! When I said 'old stuff' that was a little tongue in cheek :) The mods can move posts if they are in the wrong section, I don't thing the definition is that important really if it's difficult to define. Woolly is ok for me. If it's a part that can't be bought off the shelf or s...

Re: Services Forum
Tony (and John, if you're listening in) - do you feel any need for a Resources, restoration and repair section? I know you're often battling with old gear, but I don't know if you agree with Ian that a separate section would actually get any use. I know your feelings Ian, but we can't go on yours a...

Compulsory Charles as it taking a shot of a particular window. I've been several times when I lived in Bristol. Is there room for me in your LF rucksack? Actually do contact them if you want to shoot with a tripod, they get a bit funny if anyone looks remotely professional.

Re: Lots of questions
Hi Ed the wet plate 'purists' would say that shooting with a modern shuttered optic somewhat defeats the purpose of trad wet pl photography but there's no reason why you cannot use this type of lens and perhaps move up to a more typical brass lens later good luck anyhow and regards andrew Older len...

Re: Wet Plate Cameras and Lenses
I am not sure if Carl ever got to the reason why this happened as I don't think it was something he had come across before. I have ordered some trad varnish from John Brewer but I think I might get some modern varnish too, just in case... This is a common problem caused by the collodion starting to...
