Re: Getting a metal lens board rebored - any suggestions?

Anyone with a metal workshop should be able to do it (school/college etc), but it should be managable with a file and a bit of elbowgrease. If there's already a hole cut then widening it out should be the easy bit.

Re: WTB: Lee 82mm wide ring

Having had to buy and sell various sizes of lee rings over the last few years I do wonder if it'd be cheaper to just buy a lathe and a block of metal. Especially now they want the best part of fifty quid each.

Was reading up on this today after I saw another link about it. Turns out the camera setup used was like this:

Re: Carrying lenses

Can someone humour me, if you guys are carrying your lenses in seperate cases then how are you carrying the rest of your clobber? Is this for a kind of "chuck your gear in a normal rucksac for backpacking/skitouring" sort of thing? Am I comitting a faux-pas by just opening a divided camera bag and j...

Re: Lenses - how to choose them?

I've ended up with an expensive compromise - I use short shutter cable extenders (see the Gepe extenders here - https://www.badgergraphic.com/store/cart.php?m=product_list&c=191). These don't seem to get damaged as easily but make it a *lot* easier to mount a shutter cable (I only keep a couple in ...

Re: Isle of Mull

I also stayed in bunessan, its a good base for that part of the island. We saw deer 50yrds from the cottage we were in, and saw golden eagles above. It was also quite windy so no midges!

The beaches immediately south of there are also worth an explore.

Re: Isle of Mull

Mull is great! Definitely worth a trip around the ross of mull, out towards Fionnphort. The entire headland especially around Kintra and Fidden is all white granite. Iona is also great and worth the boat across. There's also the boat to the undeniably cliched Fingals Cave - but still impressive and ...

WTB: Lee 82mm wide ring

Anyone got a Lee 82mm ring gathering dust? Ideally the wideangle model, condition isn't important.

Cheers

Reading the info on that link about the russian shots it says: "...photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (1863-1944) undertook a photographic survey of the Russian Empire with the support of Tsar Nicholas II. He used a specialized camera to capture three black and white images in fairly ...

Hmmm, maybe you're right - or probably I bet they're a mixture of techniques. There's definitely one shot where it looks like a baby has crawled off half way though the shots!

Re: How do you file your images?

I stick them in a filing cabinet in roughly the order they are developed, scan a few of the best from each batch, and hope that in future I'll have the impetus to do something more organised with them.
