Re: WTB. Recessed lens board for Cambo/Calumet 4X5.

This will be fun... I don't actually know!!!

the board is a 6 3/4" (163mm) square and about 3mm thick with a bit chomped out of the back to make it light tight.

I think it could be an SC but I'm guessing from other pics.

WTB. Recessed lens board for Cambo/Calumet 4X5.

Looking for a recessed lens-board for my Cambo 4x5. Its to fit an Angulon 90mm so around 30mm would be ideal but less would be ok, its in a synchro-compur shutter so I think that is the same as Copal '0' or about 33mm (I'm happy to re-drill). I'm looking for cheap and functional, even diy. Otherwise...

Re: idiots guide?

Thanks for the offer Andrew I think your probably right, I need to learn with someone who knows enough to ask 'why' I'm doing the things I am, its because I know no better, then show me how to improve. I just don't have the time at the moment though as I'm about to become a daddy so I'll be relying ...

Re: idiots guide?

I had a good read, went out and took some piccies (got a freebie part box of Ilford FP4 from a member of another forum) and |I'm not too happy with the result, insane DOF so need lots of practice struggling to stop down beyond f16 as i just don't do it with 35mm. Decided I don't like the roll film b...

Re: cheapest basic 8X10 lens

not sure how well the fresnel sheet would work, but I like your thinking.

Your certainly in the right area budget wise :) I've tried a couple of cheap magnifying glasses and most seem to have too shorter focal length at around 150mm, hence my thought at a lens from some reading glasses.

cheapest basic 8X10 lens

I am building a right angled camera obscura thing at work on thursday, basically it will be as follows: square wood box pin hole in the 'front' side mirror internally at 45deg opaque perspex (ground glass effectively) top the idea being you point it at your subject, stick a bit of paper on the top a...

First paper negs out of my Cambo 4x5

Well it works, there are my first large format pics and I'm rather pleased with myself. They are a paper neg made of 'silverprint proof' variable contrast paper, shot at ISO 6 with no filter. There were then scanned n works cheapy epsom scanner, mirrored and inverted to give the positive image. I fo...

So where do I find a nice online idiots guide you large format. I have a camera on the way (Cambo 45 monorail) I'll be starting with a 120film back just to get my head round accurate focus and exposure without burning through sheet film. Then I'll start on the bigger stuff once I have a bit more con...

Re: Hi From Surrey

Jeez I'll refer to it as such: 120 = roll film 5X4 = little sheets 8X10 = big sheets 20X24 = flippin silly sheets I'll probably go with big sheets but chop them into little sheets for testing. as I havn't anything to dev flippin silly sheets in I won't be using them (Although I do have a jobodrum su...

Re: Hi From Surrey

I'll post my successes with the positive paper (if I fail I'll just keep schtumm :)). My intention was to build a 4X5 (see I'm learning, didn't call it 5X4) camera mainly for portability but I may go straight to 8X10 my worry is outgrowing the pinhole and the subsequent cost of lenses! For the pinho...

Re: Hi From Surrey

I work in a university (Surrey) in electronic engineering (so my home brew LF camera will probably have Ap and Sp modes :) ), but we do a fair bit of 'widening access' stuff which is taking science and engineering to kids from ages of about 6 to 16. One of our projects was pin hole camera based, we ...

Hi From Surrey

Hi I'm Bill from Guildford. I've been playing with photography for a couple of years now and got most enjoyment from film stuff. I only shoot 35mm at the moment (but have a very nice Canon EOS1v to do it with), and have an old zeiss medium format folder to start playing with medium format. I have be...
