WTB: Film Changing Tent for 8x10

Starting out into darkroom-less 10x8 photography and need a film changing tent large enough to load and unload the film holders and processing drum. However, the price of new tents is truly frightening http://www.robertwhite.co.uk/product.asp?P_ID=1897&P=Harrison-Changing-Tents (And those prices exc...

Re: Hello from Aberdeenshire

Hi Lucy. Gosh, small world. I went to university in Colchester so know it quite well. You did drift a long way north didn't you! Didn't realise that radioactivity was so common. That explains why some chap at Photographica was looking to charge people 50p to check lenses with his geiger counter. Uns...

Thanks everyone. Almost there having acquired a beautiful Gandolfi Traditional 10x8 camera together with 3(!) WA lenses. Tripod in the process of being sorted and I will post again here for the remaining bits and bobs.
Thanks for all the helpful posts and PMs. John

Re: Hello from Aberdeenshire

Welcome Lucy ..... and hello back from way down south. Congrats on the Speed Graphic. I met a trader at the Photographica Fair in London last week. He was showing me the most amazing lens - Kodak 7inch Aero Ektar f2.5(!) - and explaining about how it was a WWII lens, was radioactive(!), and that peo...

Re: Hello from Washington state, USA

Welcome Jerry,
Great to have one of our American cousins on this forum, especially one who has met and studied with Mr A!
I'm very new here too, but everyone seems very friendly and helpful to an LF newbie like myself.
All the best,
John

Re: 10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations

Cheers John,
Yes, they are beasts are they, but beautiful beasts :). How have you found yours in use?
Good luck to the eBay seller asking £1000 when Peter Phipp has a golden oldie up for only £325 on this very forum!

Re: 10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations

Cheers Thingy (... what a fabulous user name!). I checked out the link. Looks like a real lens and a half. Very versatile, but not wide enough for my (current) needs. BTW - When first joining this forum I saw some of your earlier posts and was intrigued by your email signature as I didn't know what ...

Re: WTB: 8x10 Field Camera, WA Lens, Board, Tripod, Holders

Well Photographica yesterday was worth a visit from an interest point of view, but not a good hunting ground for 8x10 cameras or lenses. There was only one 8x10 and that was a broken down antique. Lots more interest for 5x4 and 5x7 enthusiasts. There highlights being Aero-Ektar 178mm f2.5(!) lens fo...

Re: 10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations

LOL - Thanks for the top tip Ian. Damn, this is going to make things harder :-). How do you find the focusing "experience" compares between the Protar and the SA? Cheers, John Surprisingly John my Ross f16 151mm Protar is easy to focus on my Agfa Ansco 10x8 even with a plain screen, I think the larg...

Re: 10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations

Thanks George. I have added it to the list post. I think the reason I originally discounted it was the 100mm front filter thread and Lee only seems to do 95 and 105 adaptor rings as standard. Though very happy to be proved wrong as this lens looks lovely! http://www.leefilters.com/camera/products/fi...

Re: 10x8 Wide Angle Lens Recommendations

Thanks Ian. I had no idea that LF lenses existed below 100g! I imagine that one would need a VERY dark dark cloth and better eyes than mine in order to focus a wide angle f18 :-) In truth, lens weight isn't so much of an issue (I hope) as I plan to make most photos in an urban environment. So as lon...
