Re: hello and your thoughts

Well at least you're not having to fret over which latest digital slr to waste your money on! There's nothing unusual in combining different camera platforms/formats to suit your interests or needs. While some bravehearts move exclusively to LF, I'm sure just as many keep an MF or 135 or digital sys...

Re: Greetings from Shrewsbury Shropshire

Welcome to the forum! That's interesting, I've just acquired a Crown Graphic too! They seem to be an ideal starter camera without investing too much, and many swear by them just for their intrinsic merits of ruggedness and relative simplicity. Hope you enjoy it!

Michael, it would be nice to see a/some pics, can they be posted on the forum? Also, which model is it, a traditional? And which movements, or which movements does it not have, if that's easier.
Thanks-John

Re: Just got a V750 What now ?

Robin, Don't forget to test the different height settings of the plastic mounts to achieve best scan resolution. It really makes a difference. And take a look at Vincent Oliver's testing of these flatbeds on www.photo-i.co.uk. It provides a useful introduction to the choices in getting the best out ...

Rod, one resource to check-out is Yahoo Groups, eg there is a i900 A3+ group, and several more. Not many members, but all Canon users. John

Re: Recommend a lightmeter?

Funnily, the more I learnt about metering techniques for colour and b&w (on this and on the Large Format forums), the less useful all the capability of the Sekonic is for my purposes. The same would apply no doubt to top of the range Gossens and Kenko's too I imagine. I used to take multiple spot re...

Re: Recommend a lightmeter?

You could check out the Sekonic 558, £408 from Microglobe, cheaper than the 758, but with most of the functions, much more complete that than the 508. I've had one for two years, offers all one could want. What you are paying for with the 758 are the advanced functions to calibrate several different...

Very good photographs, I like the way the grainy/contrasty processing matches the gritty city subject matter. Super work.

Re: Best place to buy an Epson V750? Any pointers?

You could enquire online at Microglobe, they have keen prices. They also have a small retail outlet near Pied Bull Yard in London WC2. Got a very good priced new boxed Nikon 9000ED from them last year.

Richard, this may be of interest, a recent thread started by Steve Gledhill on the LF Photography Forum under Digital Processing - "16 stop range....." about the advantages of hybrid workflow. Sorry, I don't know how to post the link reference. John

Re: Hello From Leicestershire

Hullo Richard, welcome to the forum. I also started teaching myself the intricacies of LF photography recently, likewise adopting the hybrid film/scan/inkjet processing route. It's amazing how much there is to learn on the processing side, there is danger of the shooting itself becoming a minor part...

Re: WTB Nikkor M or Fujinon C 450mm

Charles, If a forum member can't help you out, there are a couple of the Nikon M 450's on ebay right now at c. $500-$600 mark if you don't mind importing. I was thinking of buying one so I've been watching the market. They've been failing to sell much above that, although Mpex and Lens & Repro still...
