Re: I believe the phrase rhymes with "clucking bell"

I use a "foolproof" :? method of identifying loaded film holders using rubber bands: 1. If holder is loaded but film unexposed then rubber band is stretched vertically around holder (locking darkslides in place); 2. If the holder has film that has been exposed then the rubber band is stretched horiz...

Wading shoes?

Having just survived a near miss ... slime covered rocks vs me and a Lowepro Super Trekker I wondered what footwear others use when photographing in slippery locations? I'm thinking slime covered rocks that always feature en route to the "perfect" viewpoint; either coastal or river. I tend to wear w...

Re: Gathering - Isle of Arran?

If you listen hard enough you can hear the tumbleweed :D
I'll take it that no-one is interested - a pity
If anyone does have a change of mind then I will be on Arran between the following dates - Monday 29th March to Saturday 3rd April.

Gathering - Isle of Arran?

I'm planning a trip up to the Isle of Arran this Easter and wondered if I could generate enough interest to turn this into an informal gathering/workshop? I'm thinking of starting my visit to the island on Monday 29th March and leaving on Tuesday 6th April - but these dates are flexible ( I am avail...

Interested in a 5x7 slosher tray?

I'm interested in trying out some tray development of 5x7 negs and in particular using a slosher tray. There is a gentleman advertising on Ebay UK (he also frequents the APUG forum) who makes slosher trays deisgned for 5x4 sheet film. I have contacted him and he will consider making a larger version...

Re: Film Changing tent recommendations and Paramo.

I use the Harrison Standard Tent for loading/unloading film holders as well as loading film tanks; I can comfortably load 5x7 film and have used one for 10x8 (but a bit of a squeeze!). I am now the proud owner of an Inflatable Darkroom Tent too - awesome! I can run around in there it's so big :D On ...

How do you cut window mounts?

Just wondered whether people cut their own window mounts to present their photographs or do you buy them "ready cut"? If you take the DIY option which method/system do you prefer?
Thanks!

Lee Filters ND Grad Set (Hard)

Apparently (according to Robert White) there is a backlog of orders for Lee ND Grad Filter sets  Although I'm not sure whether Joanna has any stashed away?? I have an unused set for sale! Three resin filters; 0.3, 0.6 and 0.9 strengths with a hard transition in 150x100mm size. Filters have n...

Re: Who do you use to insure your camera equipment?

Its worth checking with household insurance policies - many consider a camera AND lens as a single item ... even though we know differently! I found this out when I claimed for a Silvestri camera about 10 years ago! If this is the case I would personally rather find out sooner than later. The replac...

Re: Kit Storage at home and portability on foot

I've tried the lens cases and they are good quality but my "issue" is the amount we get stung for taxes/duty here in UK - my order from Photobackpacker incurred a fair few quid in the above PLUS a Royal Mail handling charge!! As yet I've never had to pay for kit from Far East/Japan but the US of A g...

Re: Kit Storage at home and portability on foot

I keep all my kit in aluminium cases - bought for ridiculously cheap prices but ideal for storing gear! One for my lenses/filters/step-rings/light meter, another for my camera body/reduction back/6x17 roll film back, one for my 5x7 DDS and another for "everything else". I then decant what I need int...
