Re: LF starter kit ideas please...

If you don't absolutely want a folder, the Sinar Wolf may be worth a look. A Wolf was my first foray into LF (apart from a v.basic home-made contraption) and it's a sturdy enough camera, yaw-free etc and is not too heavy, so at a pinch it could be carted around for landscape. Good hunting.

Paterson print washer

I've had a Paterson 10in x 12in print washer gathering dust for several years. Holds 12 prints (will do 8x10 as well). I have also washed 5x4 film in it from time to time with no ill-effects. In good working order; small footprint etc. I'm looking for £35, preferably collected but if interested I'm ...

Inkjet paper

Does inkjet (sorry! giclee) paper go 'off' in the way that silver papers can with time? I've been using some old stock (c.4yrs old) and they seem to lack contrast when compared with earlier prints. The papers are Lyson matt using Lyson inks (pigment) and I've had no issues with them in the past. Cur...

Re: Gandolfi 10x8

Bit of a rush but here are some pix (one is the usual exaggeration)..............it is a Gandolfi Level II Variant with: Lens standard: swing/tilt/rise/fall/x-front Rear standard: two-way tilt plus back focus. I don't know the exact figures but they're quite sufficient to cover pretty much any event...

Gandolfi 10x8

Good afternoon all. I'm sticking with 5x4 but the 10x8 is getting too heavy to back-pack so reluctantly I'm selling. It is a 10x8 Gandolfi in American walnut and is in pristine condition. Three DDS included. Prefer buyer collect. If anyone is interested I can send some pix. I'm looking for £1,850. A...

Re: Enlarger focussing aid for large prints

Many years ago when I was setting up my enlarger I was advised that the first step was to ensure that the neg carrier, lens board and baseboard were all parallel. I did this by clamping a 10in x 12in glass sheet in the neg stage and then measuring from each corner of the glass to the baseboard and t...

I browsed AP in the newsagent's this morning. A most bizarre paragraph caught my eye. Editor Damien Demolder writes: " In photography we have national institutions too, and the British Journal of Photography is one of them. I should be delighted that AP will soon be the only weekly photographic maga...

Re: Large format printing

Thanks guys. A RIP will do the job but I'm not about to invest that amount of money for a one-off job! What I've been asked to do is to print out a pattern (mono) for a ceramics maker to mark out tile placings on a wall. Epson et al agree that the limit is 90 inches. I've been doing a bit of researc...

Does anyone out there use or have experience of an Epson 7600? I've been asked to produce an image (not a photo) approx 3 metres long and as far as I'm aware the 7600 is limited to about 2 metres even when using a 30 metre roll. Is there a work-around to go beyond 3m? More in hope than expectation.....

Re: Scanner for 5 x 4 negatives

Look at a V750. I used to pay a lot of money to get 120 and LF scans. They were very good......but with a little care the Epson can come close. The scan operator who used to to do my scans for me suggested I look at the Epson. Microtek also make good scanners although overall the number of new machi...

Re: Which UK glue to repair split bellows

Many years ago I started to restore a wooden LF camera. First stop was a firm called Camera Bellows for a replacement bellows. Their advice at the time was to use Bostik No3 adhesive. That was 20 years ago and there are no signs of deterioration. Hope that helps.

Re: Just got a V750 What now ?

Robin: Load your software, take the plunge and get some images on screen. Enjoy! And as suggested, stick with the Epson software for now and you should soon be getting printable results. Happy scanning.
