SOLD: Da Yi 6x12 (or 6x9, 6x6 or 6x4.5) Back
My photograpgy has taken a back seat for a while now, since I went back into full-time education. I've got quite a bit of LF gear I don't use any more, so I'm planning to put it up here first, to give UK LFers a chance at it before anyone else. I'll try to get it all up in the next fortnight. First ...

FS: Mamiya 7 body + 43mm + 65mm + 150mm
I purchased this system from Robert White, new, 15 years ago, when I first ventured into medium format. I researched all the MF systems available at that time, and I decided that for my purpose (amateur landscape photography) this was ideal, due to the relatively small and light nature of the camera...

Re: Seeking Field Camera Suggestions
I had a Wista DX III as my first LF camera. I was happy with it until I had the chance to try other cameras; then I found it wanting. Base front tilt for focusing I found particuarly tedious; tilt on the lens axis instead of the the base of the front standard is much quicker. Also ,it was a bit awkw...

Re: 6x12 backs
Will, I don't see any significant difference between the two backs, I think they are identical. The second auction doesn't show the extra plates for smaller formats, but the screws are there. Description seems to indicate that the format plates are supplied. These Dayi backs are heavy, and not elega...

Re: 6x12 backs
William, The Dayi back works fine -- I have a 6x12, and I'm happy with it. I use it mostly as a 6x9 back, simply because I prefer that format. If I really want long and wide, I tend to use a Dayi 6x17 back. One minor issue -- the 6x9 aperture is a true 9cm in width, rather more than my Nikon 8000ed ...

Re: Old pictures, old lenses
Charles,
Fascinating stuff -- thanks for posting the link.
Amazing what can be done with big, clunky cameras. Puts me to shame...
Regards,
David.

Re: 240mm lens advice, please
I'd agree with Dave--a Copal 3 lens on a Wista DX is not a good combo. I had a Wista DX as my first LF camera, and bought a Fuji 400T (Copal 1) lens--heavier than any of my other lenses. I was shocked when I put it on the Wista, how much strain it put on the front standard. Look out for a Fuji 240mm...

Re: Thread subscriptions
I concur with Neil--I would much rather not get emails telling me new posts have appeared. It's a pain to unsubscribe each time.

Re: The way this Board is run
Ian, This seems like a reasonably constructive list of suggestions to me, though that does not mean I agree with them. I think one or two of them have been addressed already by the moderators in this thread, but I imagine there will be some response from them again. It seems from your last post that...

Re: The way this Board is run
Ian, I suggest you post your constructive ideas in this thread--after all, it would be "on topic", it's active, and clearly people are reading it, so your thoughts will reach their intended audience. The moderators have repeatedly asked you to do this, but so far, you have not done so. I doubt any s...

Re: The way this Board is run
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm very happy with the board as it is. I have followed this thread carefully, and it is clear that the majority view does not agree with Ian. Despite multiple requests, Ian has not provided us with a vision of how this board can be improved in any significant way....

Re: The way this Board is run
Since we members are being asked to express our view, here is mine: I see no pressing need for change. I never noticed an Ebony clique here, though clearly they are aspirational cameras for a number of people, and they get discussed quite a lot--and the leather strap on the top of Ebony cameras does...

Re: Selling my LF gear
As a service to those hoping to buy Paul's items...I was the "serious offer" for the whole kit. However, Paul ultimately decided to keep his LF/6x17 gear, a decision I heartily applauded--I'd rather have him around as an LFer, since he's such a thoroughly nice chap.
