Re: To ''Maxwell Screen'' or not to ''Maxwell Screen''

I got a mucky oily screen last year on holiday when changing from 5 x 4 to 6 x 17 back on the Isle of Sky with all the spraying of skin so soft to try and keep the midges at bay. Anyway when I got home I thought I would give Bill a ring to ask him how to clean the screen, and he said no washing up l...

Re: WTB Epson 4990

Hi Matthew,

I do have a Epson 4990 Photo which I might be willing to sell.
I have a V 750 now so do not use the 4990.

Re: How do you cut window mounts?

Hi Paul,

I have the Logan Compact 301-s, works well, it as a measuring system and guide with a bevel cutter and straight cutter, and for doing long panoramic you can cut so far along then move the mount to continual and make it has long as you want.

Mounting Station

I have just got a mounting station from Better Scanning for my 5 x 4s , and wanted to know what type of tape you use to hold the film onto the glass.

I.e. masking tape, low tack masking tape, or even sellotape? Or something else.

Re: FS New Copal 0 shutter

Ian,

Can I ask how do you test the shutter speeds? I have never had my shutters cleaned and never tested to see if they speeds are accurate, is there a machine or something?

Re: I believe the phrase rhymes with "clucking bell"

Just been out this morning taking a snow scene, set up, did my calculations, ¼ sec - f45, took a couple of shots, thought for some reason I would open up the lens check the focusing, all right then took another shot but did not close down the lens so setting was ¼ sec - f 5.6 so might be slightly ov...

Re: Seeing in the Dark

Hi Gari, I got the goggles from Toys R Us, I see they are on offer at the moment, why is it not on offer when I want to buy something :( . Sometime ago (few years) I brought a Fuji Quick Change Film Holder and some cassettes, at the time they said you could use the film then reload with your own fil...

Re: Seeing in the Dark

Hi Robin, Happy New Year. No I do not use the light, there is a red light that you can switch on but it seems to make no difference and I also thought that it might harm the film too, so as I say it is switched off. I use Velvia 50 slide and Delta 100 black & white, and it works o/k for me. Remember...

Seeing in the Dark

I thought I would pass on one, of the two best things I have bought this year, no actually there is three things, but anyway, with quick load stopping I guess that means you will have to use dark slides and load them yourself, which I do now in the darkroom. What as made my life so much easier when ...

Re: Recessed lens boards

When I use my 6 x 17 back instead of using a recess board I set the lens further back, I have taken a picture to show as I might not be able to explain so easy.

Hope you get the idea.

Hi Sean,

Thank you, I must admit I am a bit hook on using the 6 x 17 back at the moment.
Not sure who's round it is, think we should start again, when's the next gathering?

All the best,
