Re: WTB: 35mm slide scanner

Probably overkill for the task you had in mind Jenny, but would be good for MF and 5x4..... I will be selling my Imacon Flextight Precision II/III as soon as I get around to gathering the info, price research and taking some pictures.

Re: Fuzzy focusing

The Paramo dark cloth is by far the best one I used. I too found misting of GG with several different dark cloth types, generally after having raced to a location in order to get best light. Then somewhat warm, went under the dark cloth to set up the shot. Whilst the Paramo material is very breathab...

Fuji film and the earthquake

Interesting post from Photo Engineer on APUG giving his characteristic insight to a potential problem with Fuji making film in the aftermath of the earthquake and the increased radiation levels. http://www.apug.org/forums/forum172/89076-fuji-earthquake.html Fuji film users who are low on film stock ...

Re: Imacon Flextight Precision

Hi Dave I've had a Precision II for a good few years and it's been superb. Issues with SCSI connectivity were main headache, but all solved. Initially with Adaptec card in a G4 and then with a RATOC SCSI/FW converter which works fine with an Intel Mac Pro. Scanning Colour neg is more problematic tha...

Re: Drying Kodak negatives

Hi Tristan I used a tiny metal stationery butterfly clip on each sheet which I could keep in the rebate near the notches. This is the sort with the foldy back ears, rather than bulldog clip. The gripping surface is radiused, whereas bulldogs I recall are flat metal sheet albeit slightly angled. Plac...

Re: E6 chemicals - gone off?

Just use it as it is. I've had this happen a number of times with a yellow sulphurous 'scum' and all has been fine. I tried heating in microwave to get it to go back into solution to no avail. Obviously for first batch it's worth trying some less than vital sheets, but I am pretty confident it'll be...

Interest check- Super-Symmar 110mm XL and 80mm XL lenses

I am considering selling these wonderful two Schneider LF lenses along with the IIIb Centre filter which fits both of these and the 58mm XL lenses. However there is no need to use it with the 110mm XL lens which has a massive image circle. I kept hold of them in case I went ahead with buying a view ...

Re: Panasonic LX3 or LX5?

I've an LX5 in the post for my parent's xmas present. I shall give it a good testing and if my suspicions are correct about how good it is, will probably sell my GF-1 and its two prime lenses.

All of this is assuming that Amazon can get it delivered before my departure to deepest Cornwall.

WTS Pentax Digital Spotmeter

I bought this Pentax Digital Spotmeter as a spare and haven't used it other than to check it corresponded with the readings from my other one. It did, and what's more this ties in with film ISO too! It is in better condition than my main one which I bought new a number of years ago. Without wanting ...

Re: Useful iPhone apps

Tim Parkin will have a more extensive list than this, but on his recommend I've bought two expensive but very useful apps. They are great for sun angles and deciding which locations might work best at which time of year. They are The Photographer's Ephemeris and Helios. I use the former more, especi...

Re: Colour processing and water quality

I looked at the different options when setting up my home processor. Not fancying buying loads of de-ionised water I settled on an aquarium reverse osmosis water filter. Output is far lower than a domestic unit and so was the price, about £70 I think. I bought from Eb*y. Simple to fit to a drain hol...
