Tri Colour process anyone....

Post by Fourtoes » Wed Nov 02, 2011 1:00 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Found this article online, I remember some members on here interested in tri colour photography (if thats what its called).

I was more interested in the apparatus than the process...

Cool and a little extreme.... :D

Cracking Camera Tony

Imagine trying to use that outdoors. I have enough trouble keeping a standard camera free from shake in the wind without having to contend with a built in sail as well.

Thanks for posting

Henri Gaud is very well known for his trichromie work. Take a look at this particular page from his massive resource http://trichromie.free.fr/trichromie/in ... -trichrome . I know it's all in French but try clicking on the "Lire la suite" links to get the full blog post and, towards the bottom of the page, there are four straight links to pictures of trichromie cameras.

And here is a page where you can see "L'archevêque de Moisenay" (Henri Gaud) with one of his "one-shot" cameras http://trichromie.free.fr/trichromie/in ... 05/31/OS01

D A Spencer's 1940's book - Colour photography in Practice - has a lot of information on Tri Colour processes and the cameras, strangely the cameras rarely appear on Ebay yet there were quite a few about. Spencerhad joined Kodak research and was a Director, (Kodak Ltd - not Eastman Kodak which was itself run by Wrattten employees from the UK :D anyway at that time).

Spencer himself was involved in Tri-Colour work. His book is for a text-book quite a remarkable read particulary the very apt quotations from Lewis Carrol/Rev Charles Dodgson - Alice Through the Looking Glass, but also it's wealth of information.

are you bidding on this, Tony?

if anyone is interested, it's part of Saturday week's auction at WestLicht in Vienna - some good stuff in there, this one is kicking off at 600 euros

here's the link:

Thanks Tony

no, nothing really

the grapevine tells me that WestLicht is a really good place to go, though

yes the prices are pretty high but WestLicht seem to generally start lower than TeamBrekker

Hi Tony

as you probably know, the results from yesterday's auction in Vienna are now in

not surprisingly, the bid prices for long vintage Petzvals were way up there, plenty of 'short petzvals' around but a real paucity for their much longer cousins, they were 'marque names' however

best regards

andrew
