Ground glass focus screens

Post by IanG » Fri Nov 04, 2011 11:00 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

In the next 2-3 weeks I'm making a large batch of around 100 ground glass focus screens in a variety of sizes, these are for a third party, but if anyone needs a screen or two for restoration/replacement then let me know. I always have a small stock of screens as well, for 5x4, 10x8 and 9x12 (cm) cameras as well as a few other sizes but can cut or make others to suit within a day or so.

These screens are comparable to the best from the US.

Ian,

How thick are they in approximately 4*5 (I can let you know exact dimensions later when I get back from Rio tomorrow) and how much? I could use a one or two for my homebrew camera, which is making do with ground-plastic 1mm sheet at present.

Usually the screens are nominally 2mm thick and they'll fit most cameras with no issues, the US made screens are the same thickness, with Pacemaler Graphics the retaining clips need a thin card shim to allow the focus hood to fit precisely if you add an additional fresnel as well. I can use thinner glass if necessary but it is much more fragile and the differance in weight etc is minimal.

Price is around the £10-£12 mark for a 5x4 screen, postage and the need for good packaging at cost. For two identical screens then I'd give a good discount on the second :D

Ian,

Apologies for my delayed reply...

Am I still in time to get a couple in the mix? I need them 130 by 106mm, if you'd be so kind. A corner chopped off to let the air out would be nice but is not essential.

Thanks,

Neil
