Cut metal and lens panels

Post by Charles Twist » Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:08 am Etc/GMT-1+01:00

I don't know if this is any use to folk here, but while looking for lens panels with holes for non-standard lenses (barrel lenses in my case) for my Sinar, I stumbled upon this Ebay shop, which can produce:
Four of 139mm x 139mm 4mm thick aluminium Including P+P would be £21.52
Four of 139mm x 139mm 4mm thick aluminium with hole including P+P would be £23.24
They're laser-cut with a tolerance of +/- 0.25mm.
They don't do black-anodising, but if you can handle fine sandpaper and black acrylic paint, that's not a big issue.

I haven't tested them and I am not connected. I was just impressed with their offer, their answers to my questions and the fact they seemingly can cut near enough any shape you want. They might be useful for those re-building cameras too: although I don't see any brass plates on their listings, it's worth asking.
