Replicating an old 'look' to pictures.

As I mentioned in another post, I've bought some Adox CHS 50 as I'm planning on taking some photos of a colleague's 1950s sports car which has been restored, and I'm trying to achieve the feel of photos taken at the time the car was new. I'll be using an MPP MicroPress and lenses from the same era - a 90mm f6.8 Angulon, a Xenar 135mm f4.7 and an Air Ministry 8-inch lens.

Any other advice? I'll be using Rodinal to develop.

Exactly the combination I've used a few months ago.

What I did find is that the rodinol developer times I found were significantly undercooking the stuff - you might want to experiment beforehand. My results are on here somewhere...

What you will find with the CHS-50 is that the colour balance is heavily skewed... it's blue/green sensitive but almost nothing for red - so reds will be significantly darker than they appear to the eye in daylight. If you have a model in the shot that's going to show well in makeup - lipstick and the like. If your car is red, though, you may have problems seeing it!

(Though I trust it will be BRG and so right where things are sensitive!)

Thanks Neil,

Yes, the car is BRG (not a Ferrari unfortunately!). I will experiment with dev times before doing it in anger.
