Not sure about this at the moment as there is nothing on Kodak's website. However.....

Kodak has just announced the upcoming launch of Kodak Ektar 100 - the world’s finest-grained colour negative film emulsion available today - in 4x5” and 8x10” sheet formats. Since its introduction in September 2008, the Ektar 100 family of films has won numerous industry awards, including the Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) award (2009), Professional Photographers’ Hot One Award (2009, 2010) and American Photo Editor’s Choice Award (2009). “Large-format photographers, such as landscape and fine-art photographers, will love the impact and flexibility that Ekatr 100 brings. Tis true. It is reported in the BJP: 17.2.10, p5 that Kodak will be introducing Ektar 100 in both 5x4 and 10x8 sheet film & will become available in Europe from March 2010.

Tri-X 320 will also only be available in sheet film format in the future.

Forgive my ignorance, but I only really use two films so I'm not really au faut with what one might expect from Ektar 100. Everybody seems very excited about it.

What sort of film is it? What sort of characteristics does it have? Anyone have any experience?

A more saturated but very fine grain negative film stock. The excitement is also partly "WOW!! COMPANIES STILL CARE ABOUT LARGE FORMAT!"

Which says its VERY saturated and almost a substitute for E6 films - sounds too good to be true.

In the BJP, Kodak's Marketing Manager for professional film, Scott DiSabato, is reported to have said:

'The moment we launched the 35mm film, photographers started asking about medium-format and large-format versions', and '...Large format photographers tend to prefer film over digital. The Ektar name is recognised for its vivid colours and ultra fine grain.'

Once my stocks of Fuji Pro160S are exhausted, I will start using this film..... or perhaps earlier, out of curiosity.
