LEE Adaptor Rings - STD or W/A

Post by msbc » Tue Sep 21, 2010 11:05 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Can anybody advise on which LEE adaptor I need for a Super-Angulon 90/8 lens. Is the STD ring Ok or do I need a W/A adaptor ring?

It really doesn't make any difference with a 90mm either will work. Below 90mm though you would probably need one

I found that the wide angle ones, being made of metal, are a more consistent size and are better made than the standards which are made of injection moulding and then turned high impact plastic. I have had problems with one standard that didn't snugly fit the adapter (with much filing ensuing). Obviously this isn't too much of a pain but worth knowing.

I prefer standard ones where possible, as they have a female thread you can still stick a conventional lens cap on the front, rather than having to use the big white Lee ones which necessitate removing the filter holder.

Or, I am reliably advised that the tops from Häagen Dazs ice cream tubs are a good fit and you have the added advantage of emtying them before use

Green and Blacks - much better both ergonomically, environmentally and culinary.

Maybe there should be a seperate thread detailing foodstuffs with handy LF packing spinoffs. I already use ale bottles to store E6 chemicals. Can anyone think of a use for empty maltloaf wrappers?
