Mine as I bought it. So far, it's looking like an MPP Mk6 and a half: A Mk6 with some Mk7 additions. International back, mainly. Not entirely sure if the two accessory shoes were DIY additions, or why. Rangefinder no longer attached, though I gather this was an option anyway.

I have a half-plate constructed too that just needs some bellows making, and the paper bellows on the baby camera are beginning to be only usable with really wide apertures so that the pinholes do not have too much of an effect! As the weather is set to be dreary for the foreseeable future, it looks like I have some folding to do....

The reason I've been buying 5x7 DDS recently. I bought this circa.1910 Demaria-Lapierre & Mollier 13x18cm camera with Hermagis Apl. No.5 f=310mm Serie II lens. in Paris in November last year. It has a TP cloth shutter which works like a dream and a flash sync port (not sure if this was original but it fires my small digital flash no problem).
Made a 5x4 reducing back using an old Sinar back then decided I was wasting a lot of the film area so converted the back to take modern 5x7 holders. There's nothing fancy about it, not a lot of movements but there is just something I like about using it that is very enjoyable - and the results are excellent. I want to try and find a 'standard' lens for it as 310 is a bit long so I think something in the region of 210/240 which does mean a bit more work on making a lens board but that's half the fun!

Hi Ian - yes the TP shutter does work ok and the cloth is intact.
The whole camera is in excellent condition

which is exactly the type of camera that's made for this thread - yes, as was the case with this type of cameras, the movements are restricted but as far as I'm aware the focus was on portratit and landscape work

If you are intending to pick up a French made lens to continue with the theme, the Boyer apo line of lenses are a possibility - some speak very highly of them, the late Man Ray for one - they crop up on 'the big auction site' from time to time

I've a very similar Parisian built 5x7 too, it c/w a Derogy lens, not as cultish as a Hermagis of course - the rear standard is large enough to support a wp conversion

as you bought it in Paris, I'm hoping that you're not still paying for it

My wife, who's French and a good negotiator, managed to barter the seller down by a fair amount - he was left shaking his head, but then I think they all do that - so the price was reasonable. From what I've seen recently on eBay the lens would probably sell for as much as we paid for the lot!
It's a pleasure to use and a 5x7 neg makes an excellent contact print.

yes, the value of the lens, you're spot on - those made by Hermagis are fairly 'cultish' and attain very decent prices

'bartering in France' - you have to, they expect nothing else

I MUST post some photos of what I'm currently using (or intending to use in 013), none of them are flash, at all, just some decent + users, which I have a soft non-cuddly relationship with:

1930's 5 x 7 Technika, c/w unnamed 4 x 5 reducing back;
5 x 7 KB Canham Wood Field;
Half Plate unnamed British Tailboard, converted to 5 x 7;
13 x 18 French Tailboard; and a
11 x 14/10 x 8 unnamed Field
