Harman Titan 5x4 Pinhole review
Harman Titan 5x4 Pinhole review
For anyone interested in a user report on this camera, the link below has a video of Leon Taylor trying out the camera. It's about 20 minutes, but you can skim the interlude section at halfway!

Re: Harman Titan 5x4 Pinhole review
I watched the video on Friday & it's very interesting that the image sharpness with the 72mm cone is so sharp.
I am thinking of buying one to experiment. I also note that at £150 it is MUCH cheaper and LIGHTER than buying the "equivalent" Schneider 72XL lens! I'm sure Joanna will be interested....

Re: Harman Titan 5x4 Pinhole review
There is a new, official, YouTube video now out too.
http://www.youtube.com/user/harmantl
In it we learn that the 72mm cone's pinhole size is 0.35mm which equates to an aperture of f206. If anyone here has the Pocket Light Meter app* for their iPhone (a very inexpensive "spotmeter"), it offers an aperture reading of f203, which in near enough to use, saving you from needing to carry the cutout calculator provided in the kit.
I'm rather hoping Mike Walker might offer an accessory to the new camera: an attachable spring back facilitating the use not only of sheet film holders but also instant film holders. HINT... HINT... HINT

Hi Steve
Thank you for your email, and your interest in the new pinhole camera.
I am sorry to say, the back of the cameras is made to take cut film holders only, after all it is an ILFORD product.
That said if your Fuji back can be fitted onto a 4x5 plate then you should be able to make it work using 2 small wedges to take up the gap.
I will have the camera ready to send out this time next week.
Regards Mike

Hi Mike
I was wondering if you could tell me if it will be possible to attach Fuji’s PA-45 instant film 5x4 back to the new pinhole camera? I have looked at the data sheet on Ilford’s website, but it is not clear whether the film back is a universal fitting.
Regards
Steve Hammett

I presumed the cameras were a sideline for the scotch whisky distillery.

I understand that sales have been strong to date, not surprising as there's currently a considerable interest in pinhole work

Re: Harman Titan 5x4 Pinhole review
On this subject, is it possible to buy a pinhole that would fit a Linhof Technika standard lens board?
Cheers,

Thanks Paul, though it would be nice if the website was written in English as well... All the details about the Linhof pinhole are in German and I don't understand a word of it!Paul Dunning wrote:I think Skink Pinhole http://skinkpinhole.com/wp/ make something that fits a Linhof panel.Valerio Trigari wrote:On this subject, is it possible to buy a pinhole that would fit a Linhof Technika standard lens board?

With the Skink Pinhole Pancake and Mamiya RB67 film-back on the tropical island of Pulau Redang
The film back of an old Mamiya RB67 can easily be converted into a pinhole camera. A thin wooden frame connects the film back with a DIY Skink Pinhole Pancake. Thanks to the built-in dark slide, film exposure is quite convenient.
Position the camera on a tripod while making sure that the direction corresponds with the desired composition. When doing wide-angle photos this does not have to be very exact because the camera has a wider angle of view than the human eye. A water-level or bull-eye is helpful if you desire a level horizon.
Before the actual exposure, you just cover the pinhole with a finger. Now the slider or dark-slide can be removed from the film back. Wait a moment to ensure that the camera is not moving. Now you take your finger off the lens and count: twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three.... according to the measured or imagined exposure time. After the exposure you cover the pinhole again and push the dark-slide back into the film back.

Yes, I noticed that If you search ebay.co.uk for Skink Pinhole then loads of stuff comes up, here's one. Oddly they seem to ship from China, maybe it's a German company manufacturing in China, or something elseValerio Trigari wrote:Thanks Paul, though it would be nice if the website was written in English as well... It looks like it comes with a 0.4mm pinhole but other sizes are available along with zone plates etc.

There are these guys too

I have not seen, let along shot with their pinholes, but I do like the idea of something that has a standard shutter thread.
David.
