ansel adams
Just got back fron Edinburgh and had the good fortune to see the Ansel Adams exhibition at the City Art Centre. The photos in his various books don't do them justice until you see them face to face. Well worth the trip and it is on until the 20th.
Happy snapping,
John

Re: Ansel Adams
I would have liked to have seen them, maybe one day they will be shown down this neck of the woods. I doubt if I could get to Edinburgh in time.john shiell wrote:Just got back from Edinburgh and had the good fortune to see the Ansel Adams exhibition at the City Art Centre. I don't know if it is the same exhibition, but the one in Edinburgh is from the George Eastman House Collection and also includes The Landscape Photography of Lindsay Robertson. I might just visit Oxford and compare the difference. It's certainly food for thought and inspired me to get off my arse (sorry!) and get out and take some photographs.

I've heard tell that the lighting is very subdued in both exhibitions; and that it can be difficult to appreciate the images fully due to this.

Ooooo Keith go wash your mouth
A very interesting thought and I would like to know the answer before I spend 8hrs and a considerable sum of petrol money going to see it. Prehaps a phone call is in order. Though the subdued lighting suggests original Adams prints, at least that was my impresion.
Regards Paul.
