I looked at the Shen Hao and was just worried about the build quality after reading threads on other forums. Had a quick chat though with John (!?!) at Robert White and he seemed to think they would be a decent intro. I guess if they are selling them they can't be that bad.

Problem i've got Jenny is living in Liverpool means decent shops are far far away. Joanna has offered me a look at her cameras when she's back so I'll take her up on that.
Do know a guy, John Davies, I might give him a call and see what he uses now. He used to just use an old Cambo wide but may have changed.

Still unsure what to get really  so might focus on getting some of the bits together, like lenses/film holders till I have looked at a few cameras.

To be honest I can't really complain about the build quality of the Shen Hao, plenty of people use them with no complaints, its certainly very well made for the money. Consider those TFC45s cost about £400, and the Ebony model its "inspired" by, the SW45, costs £2.4k from Robert White.

Craig,

I have a Chamonix. It was delivered in September of this year. I was charged no duty at all!

It's well worth getting the Universal bellows rather than the standard ones.

Hugo is very helpful and responsive.

John
