UV Filters - standard or MRC?

Just wondering if anyone can vouch for the advantages of MRC (Multi Resistant Coating) on their B+W UV filters....as opposed to standard (high-quality) B+W ones.
Not sure I can justify the extra cost of the MRC filters. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks!
Stephen

I suppose it depends on whether you believe the marketing hype? The MRC sounds impressive but look at photographs made by people using pieces of resin (Lee Filters!) in front of their lenses - superb images and not a hint of MRC/MC
I doubt you or I would be able to tell an image made with a MRC filter and one made with a standard filter?

Thanks Paul...that was my take on it too.
The main 'advantage' seems to be that they repel moisture and that they are a bit tougher. I'll be sticking to the standard ones and a good lens hood, I think.
Cheers,

The only time I wished I had coated filters was when I took this 17 minute exposure and got the reflections of the lights on the the colour correction filters.

I must admit that whilst using Lee filters, I use MRC coated UV filters as standard as I do a lot of shooting in situations where its control of flare is desirable - and out of habit. I only use uncoated glass filters over my external light source, for microscopy, but then, my microscope was made in the late 1930s and I still use uncoated Cooke objectives (with modern Leitz eyepieces) from that period!

I find the B+W MRC coated filters clean easily without leaving any smears.
