Re: Envelope System for Quickload, ReadyLoad, Polaroid Holders
I can't imagine that the dust issue is any worse than DDs.
In terms of supplyng them pre-filled do you mean each time or just the first time you buy 'em?
I have Mido holders and they are fiddly to load initially, one type more than the other, but I found them no more difficult to "learn" than darkslides. I tried them in a tent and that was quite frustrating and as for a bag I imagine that would be a nightmare. I am guessing that doing it this way was the issue.
I found that doing them in the open in a dark room made all the difference. There was a thread on here about NVGs that I asked a few questions on for this very activity, I find it is quite a tactile task, which I am quite happy with, but NVGs would make it a breeze I reckon.
I can maybe post some pics if people are interested to see a holder. It may take a few days as my PP digi thing recently passed on

As I said, the envelopes are not intended for re-use; that would be your choice if you wanted to.gari wrote:I can't imagine that the dust issue is any worse than DDs.

I have mentioned that we might supply a small jig which will make the loading simple.gari wrote:I have Mido holders and they are fiddly to load initially, one type more than the other, but I found them no more difficult to "learn" than darkslides. That is indeed the idea, except that you can load them with whatever film you want.gari wrote:If they are not for re-use are they not then quickloads?

Re: Envelope System for Quickload, ReadyLoad, Polaroid Holders
OK, so you load them yourself? and can do so more than once?
Sorry I read the original thread to infer that they were reloadable as in the Mido's for example, have I misunderstood?
I have had a long day by the way and about 18hr sleep in the past 4 days, hence being a little hard of understanding sorry.

Yes, unless we can get them preloaded, but that would only be with a limited range of films.gari wrote:OK, so you load them yourself?
Maybe. It's not at all certain whether the envelope would stand up to re-use. There's the issue of the end of the envelope "fraying", the clip losing strength and, mostly, the additional dust that would get introduced every time it was reloaded.gari wrote:and can do so more than once?

Joanna
Another one to add to the list - getting through around 200 sheets of QL a year, and not looking forward to the additional weight of DD slides.

Re: Envelope System for Quickload, ReadyLoad, Polaroid Holders
Members of APUG seem to be developing more interest in the idea of pre-loaded QL envelopes for convenience and the fact that they would be pre-loaded in a dust-free environment.
I'd love to have them pre-loaded with Rollei's Infrared 5x4 sheet film, then I could always carry a couple with me anywhere, just in case, sparing having to allocate a whole DDS for them. As Acros is still sold as sheet film in Germany, pre-loaded Acros would be welcome in the future. I would expect to buy at least 40-50 sheets of Acros alone every year.
There is also interest, on APUG, expressed for possible bulk ordering of pre-loaded Joanna Envelopes for the project below:

I'm pushing this discussion "up" in order to know what happened to this envelope project since january 2010.
