Re: Epson Scanner 4990-V750 & Epson 3800 profiles download
Very interesting that you should find this necessary. If I use the Monaco profiling software with the appropriate Wolf Faust target for the transparency film I am scanning,, I get a profile that gives me a file that requires no other correction other than to assign the profile to the file after scanning. How To Use The Curve Preset
At this stage, depending upon the image type you may notice a Magenta colour cast within the image. This is a characteristic of the Epson scanner, which produces too much red within the CCD that cannot be controlled via profiling. Loading the curve preset which increases the green should help remove this. Ideally, this curve should be applied after the assigning stage, then flattening the image and converting to the desired RGB colour space. The reason I have suggested this be done all the time is that not all images require this Magenta cast removal.
Have you seen the discussion on basic scanner questions ?

Joanna I agree with your comments, 95% of the time the profile will work perfectly exactly as is.
However, if you've visited Tim Parkin's website and seen his film/processing tests you will see that not all film/processing is equal. I've scanned over 1200 pieces of film since January 2009, from all over the U.K. America, Sweden and even Thailand, and have come across this variance in colour on more than one occassion. Having also banded this profile around people who have the Epson V700/750 scanner who profile in the same manner you do, a Magenta colourcast has occasionally been detected with both the Wolf Faust target and the profile I've generated here. As the scanner suffers with a lot of red (or maybe this is a variance in the manufacture) I've included this colourcast curve as an additional measure for those that may be having an issue with this. Wether it be the scanner or the film processing, an issue has been raised and identified.
What you have here is an alternative profile for the Epson, some may prefer the profile they've already generated, some may find this one better. At least there is an option here to try something different.
