Who can service my Sinar P 10x8 (Manchester UK)?

Post by Marizu » Wed Sep 09, 2009 3:20 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

I have got a Sinar P 10x8 (with an additional 5x4 conversion).
When I reset it all to 0, it isn't totally straight. Also, the 10x8 back bit isn't quite ase rigid as the 5x4 one.
I was wondering who would be able to service it for me and get it all back to straight and how much this would be likely to cost.

I have seen the servicing manual but it looks a bit hairy for a novice

Thanks in advance,
Marizu

I suggest you try Mike Walker, http://www.walkercameras.com. Great guy, services LF cameras for various well-known professionals, long experience. I have no connection with Mike, so this recommendation is not prejudiced by commercial or other links. He's not that far from you, on that little bit of the Wirral peninsula that's in Wales.

Best wishes,

George

Thanks for the steer, George. I actually work in Chester so I popped over to see Mike during an extended lunch time.
He's a fascinating, engaging guy with a lot of engineering experience and a very methodical approach to design and problem solving. I can see that this care, consideration and attention to minute detail is reflected in his own products.
My camera is a lot happier as a result of the visit.
Cheers,
Marizu
