Any TMAX users?

The Quickload Velvia thread mentioned the demise of QL Acros although Robert White are advertising it on 4 weeks delivery at £65 + vat for 20 sheets. While wasting time on the net (rather than writing Christmas cards

) I noticed that Warehouse Express is selling Readyloads of Tmax at a very attractive £26.48 for 20 sheets and I was wondering if anyone had experience of it. Have to say I've been almost exclusively Ilford on mono, with a bit of Acros and Tri-X flung in, and have the impression of Tmax being a bit less forgiving on exposure and processing.

The other thing was that RW used to have a cross referenced section on Polaroids, Readyloads and Quickload holders and which films could be used in which holders, but can't seem to find that on their site tonight. Anyone know offhand as I've got QL and Polaroid holders?

I remember that stuff one the old robert white site you're talking about - if you know roughly when it was up you might be able to find it on one of the internet archive websites. Or just email them, I'm sure they'd help you.

So reading from that link, you need the single sheet Kodak holder (like this presumably http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/KODAK-READYLOAD-P ... 652wt_1165) rather than the previous double sheet version.

I have always used Quickload in the past, but have a packet of non Quickload TMax - 50 sheets for £48 from Calumet. The Warehouse Express Readyload price is not that far off the price of straight sheet film - if you can find a Readyload holder, it's tempting.

Just seen that Teamwork list the Kodak holder new at £99 plus VAT.

I recently started using T-Max 100 and is a very nice film, a little more contrasty than Acros. The QL holder will not work with the readyloads , I tried, the envelope will not go all the way down. I'm not sure about the Polaroid holder.
Are you planning to develop it yourself? I developed my first sheets in Kodak HC-110 and the negatives came out a little contrasty.

I think I'm going to get some and try it in my Polaroid holder to see how that works out first. I've been trying to standardize on D76, and there is an APUG thread with fair support for this pairing, so I'll probably go for that to see how it looks.

Thanks for the link, its an interesting post. I'm new to b&w developing and for some reason powder developers scare me. XTOL seems to be a very popular choice with T-MAX(after all is an alternative/replacement for D76). I would love to try a staining developer, quite a few people are raving about it especially if the negs are going the scanner route.

TMX 100 works really well with dilute Perceptol, 1:50 Rodinal, and Barry Thornton's 2 bath - used them all, been happy with the results of all.

Just as an update on this, I emailed Warehouse Express before Christmas to ask what the expiry date is on their TMax Readyloads which were shown as being in stock. I never got the courtesy of a reply and now find that the link I posted earlier only takes you to the main site where a search for Readyload gives 0 returns. I'm not actually surprised, but how long would it have taken to email me back and say this had been a mistake and there woulld be no more stock?

Is not Readyload, but if you like the film, the price looks right.
Silverprint sells 50 sheets of Fomapan 100 for £19.52 and its a nice film especially when developed in HC-110 or Rodinal.

Thanks for the information Bogdan, but I was only going to try TMax as it was the last of the Readyloads. I've still got a few boxes of Quickload Acros and plenty of FP4+ and HP5+ to get through before I need to buy any more 5x4 film. Well, unless it's a great bargain of course.
