Where to buy 6.5X9 Film ?

Post by sapata » Tue Jan 12, 2010 11:33 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

Hi !
Anyone knows a source in UK where I can buy 6.5X9 sheet film ? I heard there're still some manufactures doing but can't find it anywhere. I bought this beautiful Voigtlander that takes glass plates but wouldn't mind having a go with sheet film.

If anyone got an idea of how to use 120 film in the mean time would be much appreciated as well...

Thanks !

If you are talking about 6.5x9cm and not inches, AG have some in stock on special offer?

You could look for a 6x9 120 back for the camera they were made to fit 6.5x9 and 9x12 cameras and appear on Ebay frequently, be careful to make sure it's 120 and not a 620 back though. You could give MW Classics, and the Real Camera Co (Manchester) a call as well.

The most common is the Rollex bac, I have 2 for my 9x12 cameras but with pre-WWII 9x12 cameras there was no standard and 6.5x9 cameras maybe similar so you need to make sure the back will fit. Some companies like Balda advertised the Rollex backs alongside their 6-5x9 plate cameras, Voightlander sold a film-pack adapter 8s 6d :D

You need a pre-WWII Rollex later they were made by Linhof to modern International plate/film holder standards, these are the 9x12 versions but they look fairly similar

Thank you all guys...
I've got a few options now for the film (6.5X9 cm). I'll be looking at the roll back as well as another option.

That's very king of you John... I'll let you know if I need but I'm pretty sure it will fit. I've got to find a way of placing then into the plate holders that came with the camera...
Cheers !
