Mounting Station

Post by RichardP » Fri Jan 22, 2010 2:38 pm Etc/GMT-1+01:00

I have just got a mounting station from Better Scanning for my 5 x 4s , and wanted to know what type of tape you use to hold the film onto the glass.

I.e. masking tape, low tack masking tape, or even sellotape? Or something else.

Regards,

Richard

When I used to use mine I always used Kami tape which you can get from here http://www.haynes-graphic-arts.co.uk. They also sell all the other stuff you need, chemicals, Poliscan and the like. I still use Kami tape with my drum scanner where I think the sort of tape you use is more important as cleaning agents / adhesives etc can damage the drum for good. I believe the problem with using normal tapes is that the mounting fluid you are using will dissolve the adhesive when it comes in contact with it – this doesn't happen with Kami tape.

For dry mounting, I use Scotch Magic Tape.
